It's always the fault of the oppressed. They provoke irrational hatred. They bring it upon themselves
Man you are better than that post. It is possible to have empathy and tolerance for those involved, but not think they should be participating in sports of the opposite biological sex
. While very rare not the first time a female volleyball player was injured by a hit on the head and in the case below it didn't involve a transgender opponent on the other team. Volleyball star Hayley Hodson had it all, until blows to her head changed everything
Same position as always. There may be isolated instances of injustice which can be dealt with on an ad hoc basis. But it's not an "issue", except for its use for evil intolerant people to take power by stirring up hatred. To the extent it is an issue, it's an issue of the next generation, presuming we live in a democracy where they can actually exercise power, which is far from certain at this point, mainly because of obsession with issues like these, which give fuel to all of our darkest impulses.
You gave me a "Come On Man"? I'm not the one that titled the thread "HS volleyball player hospitalized". Was she or was she not hospitalized She got up and walked away on her own power.
It was literally within Biden’s first 24 hours in office when he chose to address this. And he specifically mentioned sports in his rationalization. President Biden signs executive order protecting transgender athletes in school sports The whole idea of women’s sports was to give them a place free from men, which has all kinds of benefits in their growth in a male dominated world. Winning is just one aspect. Emotional safety, growing confidence from success, physical safety in participation. learning leadership skills (which males often dominate at that age) etc. the question that no one seems willing to ask, is whether the needs or the many outweigh the needs of the one (or the few). If giving this right to a small population negatively impacts thousands or millions of girls, then what are we doing? Sometimes you can’t have everything when you are different than the norm. Countless other people deal with this in their lives every day.
I agree it is not a political issue of significance, or it shouldn’t be. But for those rare instances where trans athletes are upsetting he balance in school based sports, it will be an issue for them. People live and die through their kids participation in sports, so it will be important to them. To some degree macro issues are abstract, but you get to issues like this that can affect real life and they resonate. The fact that some here don’t think you can have an opposing view on the subject without being a bigot is pretty off putting, and plays into the hands of the political bigots.
I’m no expert like you but yes, I was head soccer coach varsity boys for a few years. Also coached many years girls local competitive teams for my girls.
I'm sure it is, but when you agree with a position that is 90% driven by bigotry, you run that risk, even if you're in the 10%. Not fair, but life. It's the stuff of aphorism, lying down with dogs and getting fleas. And I have to tell you, if I felt something strongly, but found out that I was aligned with people like Ron DeSantis and Marjorie Taylor Greene, and that they thought it was among the most important issues, I would rethink my position a whole lot. Maybe I'd end up in the same place, but I certainly would be haunted by self-doubt. Because when you're aligned with those people, it's hard to be on the side of the light, even if that is not clear at the time.
You seem to care enough to call out my posts all the time. So if you dont, just ignore me. We'll all be better for it.
Same here. And I recall one of my best friends nailing a woman really REALLY hard on a spike once. Wasn't like he did it on purpose, just was hitting the ball, but man that had to hurt. That said, I am on the "ex-men should not be in woman's sports team" for fairness reasons too.
