I’ve yet to be involved in any sport where the governing body was unable to regulate fairly so they needed politicians to make it more fair.

Is coed volleyball analogous to a biological male playing girls HS volleyball?

And aren’t there different levels of coed volleyball eg recreational, competitive league, club ….. allowing participants to choose the level of play:risk the want? That’s not found in public HS women’s volleyball.

In terms of whether or not it's just inherently too dangerous for biological girls/women to be on the same court, I think co-ed play is relevant to that discussion. I am not arguing that biological males don't have a general competitive advantage. I think they do. I know there is a high school age co-ed volleyball out there. Not as part of public schools that I'm aware. I also don't think there is mixed tennis in public high schools, but I doubt that's because of safety considerations - at least in tennis.

Coed ball is not relevant as it isn’t nearly as competitive. For that reason, boys will not give it their all for fear of harming the gals.

Thank you Councilman Viera and the City of Tampa

Here is what he said on FB, better than I could

Today begins #TransAwarenessWeek and November 20 will be Transgender Day of Remembrance (a day to remember transgender Americans who have been murdered due to hatred).

As an elected official and an American, I am proud to support the idea that we all have a place at the table of the Family of America & that we all deserve respect, love & dignity as children of God.

Transgender Americans are our family members, loved ones, siblings & co-workers & they and their families deserve our respect. They serve as first responders, in our military and in critical medical fields and are a part of our American life.

I like to give people the same dignity and respect I’d want for myself or my own family. I do that not only as an American, but as a person of faith who was raised in church and tries his best to live up to those values I learned early on. That is what this issue always comes down to for me.
