Meh…the vocabulary available to us to describe people on the left side of the political spectrum is very limited and flawed.

“Progressive” is a terribly slanted and biased word because it implies the ideology being advocated represents “progress.” Many people believe the ideology being advocated is anything but “progress.”

“Liberal” is a terrible word because liberals are the left of yesteryear. “Progressivism” rejects the ideals embedded in liberalism, and therefore “liberal” is a terrible word to describe those on the left.

Leftist is probably the best word in the modern dictionary with the least amount of bias.

 

So you are actually the "progressive," is that what you are saying lol. You guys reject liberalism and I'm assuming you are the "many people."

 

So you're looking for a word to replace leftist or progressive the way MAGA replaced right wing or conservative? Seems like we need a cult leader on or side first....

 

@tilly, one more point of consideration...I am sympathetic to your point about going home to wives and kids. I really am. However, there is a consideration that majorly flies under the radar here: eternity. If a person has a job that enables them to put food on the table, then that is great. However, no consideration, including putting food on the table, trumps eternity. A job whose work places a person in eternal peril is not a job any wise person would keep. It is better to be hungry than to face judgment.

 

Yep, that false dichotomy of either being a full throated maga Trumpist or a radical leftist communist who hates America.
