They are Sophomores. Harris will be fine and the other guard will be decided between George and Kearney. I’d like to see Barber slide inside where I think he could be very good. Manuel takes the right tackle spot. If, Barber stays outside, I expect an interior guy in the portal in the spring.
You can tell he wanted to say more... give more specifics about his nutrition and workout regimen, but he seemed like he was holding back as if he was told not to tell any details.
I can live with being in the dark about it all, as long as these young lineman are getting the best available nutrition and training.
Put big Dez at OC at 385. DTs will come up with sprain ankles when they play us Just want him below 400 where ever he plays
I can't wait till the pics come out in the summer... I also hope some of our heavies can trim down to a weight that makes them more usable in games too. Legs... squats are the workout they should be focusing on all day long... and the pushing sled or whatever thing or vehicle they want to push around.
Yes beef them boys up! There's 0 reasons why the OL/DL at the UofF shouldn't be road grading everyone not named ug & Bama. And right on par with them both.
Thanks for sharing! Clearly, physicality was lacking as well as mental toughness. And probably nothing has frustrated me more than a players head is not in the game!
Totally agree. It's been embarrassing to watch our lines get manhandled by KENTUCKY the last couple of years. That shouldn't happen. Hopefully we'll see a big difference in the fall.
I'm optimistic about the new S&C coach from the Barber interview. But yes getting whipped by UK should NEVER happen at UF. Hard to believe under Meyer he made UK look like an FCS school, and now Stoops has us as their #1 target every year.... smh
I don’t see that. If some guys transfer after spring (It happens. Guys get passed over and look for a better spot for PT), then they could be replaced in the portal. But, with Slaughter, Harris, Williams and Kearney in place for three starting interior spots, that’s strong enough. There’s also Lovett, Waites and Geore looking for 2-deep spots… Plenty of ready talent there without Barber.
The roster won't really be settled until a few weeks after spring practice, not only on the offensive line but everywhere. More than likely there will be some portal movement in and out after spring practice shows which guys are going to earn starting slots and/or significant playing time and which others are probably going to get left behind. The coaches will, also, have a better idea whether or not we have any positions that need shoring up via the portal. Most everybody wants to play NOW and not wait their turn or work harder to get better like back in the day. There could be some incoming freshmen who displace some of our veterans as well.
Yes, that's the article. It's a good read. There was a thread on the article as well. Making it four active threads on the OL. This one makes five. OL thread about GCs 2024 OL: Offensive Line Room Cover Story | Swamp Gas Forums
I wish that stat had more context. Just look who started, and where they started, the last two games. As has been pointed out in five (5) different 2024 OL threads and a GC feature article, the situation has been addressed.
