Imagine if we had a decent DC when he was starting.

Thank you. When Trask took over for an injured Franks in 2019, it was Trasks' 3rd or 4th year at UF and second under Mullen. He was a good bit older and had a lot more time to absorb the system and playbook than DJ this week.

It's also worth mentioning that Trasks' weapons were a level above what DJ has today. Not to disparage the current bunch, but Trask had high NFL draft picks to throw to like Kyle Pitts, Van Jefferson, Trevon Grimes, Toney, etc. The situations just aren't close to each other.

Trask was great and a wasted talent as well. This is one of Mullen's biggest blunders, not playing Trask sooner.

Trask with Spurrier would have been amazing.

I’d like to see how Trask would do with our current weapons. Trask’s weapons weren’t elite with Franks doing the throwing. They were instantly open every play for Trask though.

His numbers were as good as any Spurrier qb weren’t they? How do his numbers compare to Danny’s? Biggest thing is Spurrier wouldn’t have left him on the bench for three years.

For me the curiosity is that Trask did what he did while playing no patsies during 2020. Also, he was subbed out of games randomly to get Jones a drive or two out of nowhere and yet Trask still put up monster numbers. He also did it while having very few possessions in some games like aTm where we couldn't get them off the field. Trask had a great couple of years but I'll always wonder what could have been in a few different scenarios like playing with a defense that could stop a 3rd down or what spurrier would have done with him.

Trask stood out because of his pre snap read ability and getting the ball out quickly to elite talent. Coach would have him doing the pirouette play action to take that away, lol

Arm strength and mobility hold him back.

I am not saying that he is drawing the NFL minimum. Even if he is, Trask is still have a good payday at $795,000 per year.

Kyle Trask is averaging $1.38M. That goes much further in Florida than Brock Purdy's $934,000 in San Francisco.

If he had a defense, it would’ve been something. Anthony, Hilliard and Green, Along with Taylor and the other backs was a lot more talent surrounding Danny than what Trask had also.

Kyle Trask could have taken over the starting role in 2018 but he fractured his foot in practice the week before the South Carolina game. Trask came in for Franks in the 3rd quarter against Missouri after Franks had only completed 9 of 22 for 84 yards.

He looked primed for a takeover twice, only to get injured during the following week of practice both times. The third time, he made it happen.

Yeah, he probably should have been starting those seasons from the very beginning
