I'm watching an undefeated FSU possibly win their fourth national championship in like 10 years. They are dominating an undefeated Stanford team as if they were a junior high school club. We were once a soccer power, what happened??? And how did FSU overtake us and take over the damn sport? Four national championships in a decade is a dynasty. Makes me sick.

Becky Burleigh got lazy towards the end of her career. Just didn’t have that drive to recruit and dominate since she reached the pinnacle so early on.

Do you think Bohon is the one to bring us back? I saw definite improvement this past season compared to the abysmal 2022.

Soccer is my second favorite sport. We won the NC my senior year and I'll never forget the feeling of beating the goliath UNC. It's not enjoyable watching UF soccer when we're barely competitive, especially knowing what FSU is doing. I feel like UF is a place that can sell itself. The state of Florida is filled with HS soccer talent. And FSU barely recruits the state because they go national and especially international so I feel like we could get the best kids in the state if we were at least respectable We have to get back to being a winning program.

They take it seriously, they lost a NC winning coach and went out and hired a great coach from the SEC, UF let a coach hang around too long, and went bargain hunting for the replacement and the replacements replacement.

One man built them into the dominant program they are today. FSU decided to totally commit to building their program up, hired who they were convinced was the best person for the job and put their money behind their decision. He retired and they brought in another great coach to keep them going. It's all a matter of commitment and $$$.

I don’t think Stricklin is capable of hiring a single championship-caliber coach.

Krikorian did it by bringing in multiple international players to quickly get good. Then, more top US recruits want to join in. A lot of teams are following that model now.

You're seeing it in volleyball, too. But there the effect is magnified because of fewer players on the court. Just look at Georgia Tech, who beat UF in NCAA tourney. There's even a D2 team in Montgomery doing it (Auburn-Montgomery).

Personally, I don't like the practice; like it's an admission that the coach can't recruit good US players or develop a winning program without getting a steroid-boost from internationals who've been participating in nation-sponsored development programs. But, I doubt the NCAA is interested.

I will say as a fan of the sport, I was impressed with FSU’s second goal vs Stanford. Imo, the best transition goal I’ve seen this year.
