Interesting article? Your thoughts? OPINION: More players will leave the Florida program. Don't panic.
Nfl plays with a 53 man roster. Even in college, past that are just developmental players. Portal let’s other schools develop players and bigger schools supplement their 53 with kids that are ready to go. Half our 53 may be new to the roster next year.
This awesome. College Football is literally going to have a "Transfer Window" just like European Football (minus the transfer fees).
As much as I hate the Transfer Rules, Florida has and will continue to benefit big time from them. This year will be no exception. In fact we will probably see more than usual. Lots of folks leaving, lots coming in.
This article says "don't be shocked"....It should read "more players must leave the Florida program". Wilcoxson is listed as a RS freshman, but that's due to covid year. He's a 3rd year player, and nowhere near getting playing time. There must be many more coming - no other choice due to numbers. Roster Clarity - Classification (big roster turnover looming)
I asked CBN if I could try out. He said sure. Asked me what my measurables are, I said I was 63, ran a 11.7 and could bench 40 lbs 3 times. He told me we to "come on" he saw me as a second team safety on the deapth chart.....lol
Overall, the Transfer Portal has not benefitted the Gators. Since the 2018 season the Gators had 66 Gators come and go via the Portal. 22 players came to the Gators and 44 players left the Gators. Basically the Portal gave the gators a net loss of 22 players. I agree that some of these incoming players did benefit the Gators some, but the Gators lost more than they gained. This net lost of 22 players may not sound like much at first glance. When you look at the big picture it can be consider a major rupture to the talent pipeline. The average signee class is about 25 deep. Those 22 players can be called a total loss of a recruiting class. You cannot fix this lost in just one season. Every season produces season/career ending injures, players losing eligibility, or being asked or kicked off the team. In most cases that is only a few players per season. These are usually small loses but it is costly, especially when you add 4 or 5 net Porta loses per season. Over a period of time (like the last four seasons) it is costly. These loses of players via the Portal and other issues has a big effect when it comes to recruiting. Especially when you factor in the last two seasons under Mullen. The Gators took in 13 new players via the Portal. But, the lost 26 players by the portal. This is minus 66% portal gain. If the Gators do not finish strong in the next four games the Portal is going to hurt the program more. The coming exodus (which I hope is not going to happen) will give recruits and their parents the impression that the Dumpster Fire is Gainesville is still raging. I hope that Coach Napier, goes for broke and has the team ready to go for broke on every play on both sides of the line of scrimmage. We may see some mistakes but I am sure that we will see high hopes for next season.
I think BN has been a bit more patient with a few players this season than he would have liked. As we near the finish line this season and during the off season I think we may see more attrition. A new broom sweeps clean.
You make it seem like we lost players and didn’t replace them. We replace them with transfers or recruits. Few of the losses were huge impact players. The transfers coming in have been impact players. Shorter, Pearsal, Ocyrus, Montrell. All starters
