I'm sure the author (perhaps joined by the OP) blames the reader, for his article sucking so bad.

Comments here have nothing to do with Billy's inability to have the team ready to play.

Damn, if I’m responsible then there are some coaches who owe me a chunk of that buyout money. I need to send them my Cashapp info so I can get some of that generational wealth I am responsible for. I’ll send my info to Billy and wait for my share, in the mean time I’m off to shop for a boat.

It makes me really sad that such a poorly written article could be produced by a graduate of UF and that's before we even get to his faulty supposition for which he provides no real support at all. Please tell me this is just some fan site that lets anyone submit an article for publication.

Seriously. It was basically amounted to a crappy post you see on this site all the time--the kind I'd have down rated (maybe laughed at, figuring the dude was piss drunk and venting)--damn sure NOT something I, or I suspect, any self-respecting Gator fan, let alone anlumnae/nus, would post as a thought provoking piece (intended to...what? provoke introspection?? self-flagellation?? suicidal thoughts??? Not even sure what the hell the point was).

(with my apologies and due respect to @DeepPurpleGator ; no disrespect intended to the remainder of your work--and fwiw, again I renew the invitation to you, to put your fingers to your keyboard, and explain what the 'supposed' merit of the article was. Suggestion: the epic fail of the article, is in the abject lack of anything resembling a nexus between the allegation that the product on the football field is and has been subpar...and any actions by the fans. Without that nexus, all you have is two captain obviuos level observations, to wit: subpar performance on the gridiron...and  fans generally upset ).

Nicely done!!! You just proved the writer's point.

But whine away. It doesn't matter at all, according to you and your ilk.

    So delusional.

WRONG!!!! Are you a closet delusionole? Seems like it.

Of course, fan's opinions don't affect "in game" decisions. But that wasn't the point of the article, which you so conveniently ignore; you ignore it, because you can't rebut it without looking like a total fool.

The point of the article, which you clearly missed, was that fans' unreasonable criticism and lack of support of coaches, which leads to constant staff turnover, also leads to massive recruiting failures. Dissemble all you want, but kids watch the internet. When they see a coach being blasted by his own fans who are howling on the internet all the while trying to un-wedge their pink panties, said kid thinks he should play elsewhere.

Constant turnover in staff leads to constant failure.

Spurrier complained at UF because winning almost everything was never good enough; it was no longer fun. He said this, it is true. He left.

Meyer stressed out over the constant horse shit and pressure from UF fans, and crumbled. He left.

Gator fans ran off their two best coaches ever.

Believe it, because it is true.

But carry on, but watch out for the pink thongs.

Spurrier was also quoted saying he always wanted to go back to the pros(the NFL especially) to see if he could be successful. I think the same interview mentioned he was only planning on coaching college for 10 or 15 years then make the jump. And yes, he did say wins became a relief instead of joy. I'm not sure you're helping though either.

Napier has more resources than most programs to succeed. Where are those resources coming from? That didn't seem to come up in the article.

Kansas turned it around dramatically in their second year under Lance Leipold. If they can do it after being the worst program in the country for almost 15 years, then it’s not unreasonable for Napier to do the same at UF.

Different level of competition. People here bemoan an 8th ranked recruiting class. . . and for good reason, because 5 of the 7 above us are also in the SEC.

    Nice rant.

Notice I didn't say fans affected the in game decisions, that was other posts, maybe check that next time.

I got the point of the article, it's the same one that's been written for over a decade, "Florida fans are mean, they don't give coaches time, they are the worst fans ever, why would anyone kid want to play at Florida...blah blah blah"

It's false, Florida gives coaches plenty of time, there are schools out there canning coaches in 1-2 years, something Florida has never done, and yet the narrative is Florida is trigger happy.

Every fan base has the whiners, right now LSU fans are screaming that Kelly sucks, Clemson fans think the game has passed Dabo by, I'm guessing their classes will be just fine.

Florida's problem isn't the fans, it's been bad coaching hires, maybe Napier is a bad one maybe he isn't, he'll get plenty of time to see.

Really wish UF would stop forcing all of these coaches to accept a high pressure job that is only compensated by more money than most will make in a lifetime, it's just really unfair.

"You all running off all these coaches"

Muschamp: I wonder if Jacoby Brissett could have helped. I'm not seeing any evidence that Muschamp would have panned out had we given him more time. He was 6-12 in his last 18 games (3-6 in his final 9 home games, thankful for Eastern Michigan and Eastern Kentucky!). He received 4 years, and there was no sign of things turning around. South Carolina gave him a 5th year, and he was on track for his worst finish there before being let go. What is the compelling argument that suggests he should have had more time here?

McElwain: Bad luck with the Grier situation, the death threats business pretty much sealed his fate. There were tons of problems under him, but the biggest one is that we weren't advancing as a program. He's now in his 5th year at Central Michigan; 0 conference championships, and a 24-22 overall record. Just doesn't feel like this was a miss.

Mullen: He was on a roll until he wasn't. Lack of management of staff; lack of recruiting. Lots of descriptions of "broken" being used with the program these days. Sputtered to a 5-9 finish, much better than either of the other two, but the future didn't feel very bright. Again, he received a 4th year, so it's not like he was cut off prematurely.

In each case, you had a coach that could not capitalize on positive momentum and failed to make adjustments when things turned south. None of these are in any way shape or form related to Billy Napier who (barring an epic level collapse) will get a minimum of 3 or 4 years just the same. That magical "5th year" comes off as just arguing. We've all seen references to Dabo and how he struggled in two of his first three seasons. It was in his 4th season that he won a conference championship.

Not a lot of GATOR fans are to the point of wanting to let Napier go, especially with the hopes of a positive recruiting class coming in. But people are fine to complain about some of the stupid stuff that occurred in the first game...that game-level venting is completely different than the program-level failures that were exhibited by the previous three coaches.

One thing I'm looking forward to (admittedly optimistically) is that the first game didn't tell the story of last year's team, and I'm hopeful that the first game won't tell the story of this year's team. I can handle some tough/ugly losses, but it would be nice to sprinkle in some hope by way of some well-packaged games this season as well.

    Go GATORS!

You neglected about 24,999,999 million other reasons Spurrier left, not to mention 9/11, Earneaat Graham getting his knee torqued at the bottom of thr pile by that douchrbag nolie whose name eludes me (and SEC n UF not having his back...)...

...and Urbs lost HIS locker room--which Zook stacked with Miami thugs, and Meyer loved every bit of it....until he lost control of his beast.

We the fans, were mere bit players in their leaving.
