Shouldn't that also have disqualified Warnock?

I just thought it was interesting coming from his own son.

Agreed, but I just think we need to demand better public servants across the board and it's disingenuous for that person to indicate that only Walker has baggage.

I agree that we should demand better. Considering the source of that tweet I think it might be fair to surmise that Walker has a lot more baggage than most public servants.

Merit is pretty irrelevant. All that matters is if you win or lose. Ossoff had very little merit. He barely held a job before. He lost one winnable election but gained some notoriety and then things came together perfectly for him and now he’s a US Senator and seems to be doing pretty well at it.

I don’t know that Abrams was that bad a candidate on merit for no reason other than it is hard for any D in a red state to go much farther than she already did.

Her biggest problem was it is hard to beat an incumbent and none of the statewide D’s could come up with a message with what the incumbents were doing poorly and what they would do better. For better or worse Kemp and crew just weren’t p1ssing off that many people.

Just saw a graphic on CNN how the vote has changed in the Atlanta Suburbs. Gwinnett for example went +9 for Romney 10 years ago it was +25 for Warnock. Other suburbs similar. Tells me a MAGA candidate can’t be elected in that state going forward.

Somewhat ironic, Walker's concession speech was probably the best speech of his campaign and unlike his political mentor the defeated former president or the acolyte of the defeated former president the defeated Republican gubernatorial candidate from Arizona, Herschel Walker accepted the reality of his defeat in a free and fair election.

    Atlanta
The character of the state has changed dramatically (been here since the late 80s). Metro Atlanta has gone full blue, even Gwinnett, which was one of the reddest counties in the US 15 years ago.

And while that has closed the gap considerably, with Pub normal candidates it’s still a 53/47 52/48 Pub state (vs the 65/35 60/40 it was 20 years ago). Reality is the only time Dems win a statewide race is when Trump or his proxy is on the ballot.

No Dem has won a statewide state race in about 25 years and until they do the state will continue to lean red.

Abrams ran a terrible campaign this year. No energy, no down ballot help. With her at the top, just shows you bad how bad a candidate Herschel was, because had the Pubs run a normal candidate there wouldn’t have been a runoff in the first place and Warnock would have been toast in November.

Going forward I think GA looks more like NC, not a full blue blue state.

Yea that will be a really tough map. The Senate has a natural Republican gerrymander worth about 5-6 seats. 2 years is a long time but hard to see Dems holding the Senate

I’ve lived here for 20+ years. This is what I said in previous post. Atlanta is very different than even 10 years ago

Of the 33 Senate seats up for election in 2024, only 10 are Republicans, and they all look like locks to get re-elected. Several of the seats held by Democrats and Independents are in play, including West Virginia, Montana, Ohio, Virginia, Wisconsin and Nevada.

I would opine that the shift was more away from MAGA than it was towards DEM. Eliminate the MAGA and return to Romneyesque republicans and I think the shift would be much less pronounced.

If Kemp decides to run for Senate against Ossoff or Warnock, he would be tough to beat. Was telling my wife that for decades Ga was a very red state, but then I remembered that Sam Nun was a Senator from Ga back in the 80s.

If the dems can’t hold the Senate in ‘24, they will probably rue that they couldn’t send Ron Johnson packing. The math is tough and could very well end up 50-50 or +/- 1.

WI is a purple state. It’s a bit odd they got a dem Governor, one dem Senator, but the R Senator is a full on nutjob.
