Duke...yes, Duke is reported to be paying Darian Mensah (who?), the QB from Tulane $4,000,000 per year for 2 years to transfer.

At some point backup NFL QB's with eligibility remaining will sue to be allowed to go back and play for college teams again!

So what's next? Players don't have to attend classes or go to school to play football? It's a joke. If this is how they want to go then just breakoff from the NCAA and conférences start their minor league football. At least they can put rules in place that the league members can agree on.

I’m pretty sure they’d rather go back to athletes not getting paid. Don’t think this is what the schools/ncaa wanted.

A little late on this one, Joe Burrow already admitted in his postgame championship victory interview that his whole time at LSU he never went to class or the campus other than for practice. And don't try to think he did all his work online when he can pay for tutors to take care of things.

You say this jokingly, but eligibility rules are currently under attack and in at least one case has generated a temporary injunction. It is beginning to look like that trying to establish any kind of eligibility is going to be viewed as a restraint of trade.

I can see them making that point considering if you apply it to the general oublic, it should be so. What laws to we allow to resrict citizens from working. Theres usually only laws necessary to protect our right to make money. We only need protection from the people ablive us trying to rig the little guy out of business in favor of large corporations.

You're right, and as it applies to the current era of College Football, eligibility rules are a restraint of trade. If Johnny Schoolboy can keep taking classes at State U for 10 years to pursue his Ph.D., what right do these schools have to restrict players from taking classes for as long as they want and keep pulling that pay to play check? This is especially true now that college football pulled the ejection handle on amateur sports and will be paying players directly. It appears that we might see players that either like playing at the college level or aren't quite good enough for the NFL staying on as long as they want at certain Universities. I know Florida is an "at will" employment State, but many are not. I can't see the "well he's had his 5 years to play, so we fired him" excuse holding up when that inevitable wrongful termination lawsuit is filed.

Sure, but now College Football is a 0% mutually exclusive subset to "all of us." I believe its just a matter of time before it is a 100% pro league....being a student too will be voluntary. When the Supreme Court and the NCAA chose to open up Pandora's box, a lot of really nasty crap came flying out with "NIL."

Im not sure they chose to open anything, maybe its just the interpretation of already existing law. They dont get doecial treatment because we all played the game and its fun to watch.
