Its been a while since people longed for the Gary Cooper 'strong silent type', what happened to that? I always thought it was lame, but I'm beginning to understand the appeal lol. Being visibly mean on the internet apparently is what passes for masculinity. What happened to those WWII guys who could do coups around the world after drinking half a barrel of whiskey, have like 20 affairs without being found out, and then went home to their frigid wives, processed food and suburban ennui without complaint?

I wish they wouldn’t talk over the people they’re questioning so much. I understand they have limited time but that could have been handled better even if I agree with the points he was trying to make.

This is the most infuriating part of the whole thing. I certainly don’t love the act, but their response has been simply insulting.

US Military Families Angry Over Signal Chat Leak: 'It Erodes Your Trust'

U.S. military families have expressed anger, frustration, and fear following the Signal group chat scandal, and one advocate for military families told Newsweek: "It erodes your trust."

While the Signal leak has been the focus of a political debate on Capitol Hill, for military families it exposes a deeper fear of whether their loved ones' lives are now at risk due to military information being shared by senior Trump officials on a publicly available messaging app.

Simply the authoritarian mindset at work, admitting a mistake is weakness. People were saying Waltz was on the outs in the administration, but this actually saved him, because firing him would be seen as caving to the libs/media. Its just perverse.

I have two career military friends. One Air Force stationed out of Colorado Springs, and one Army in Sierra Vista, AZ. Both are in support positions and won't ever see the front lines, but both are extremely angry. The amount of incompetence is astounding. It's anecdotal, but eroding trust is what many military members feel.

And what would you say about someone who was all fired up about Hillary’s basement server and thinks the current situation is a nothing burger?

just so we are clear. The Houthis have been left to shut down shipping lanes and attack US flagged as well as other ships for years..…. That didn’t erode trust, but taking out a Houthi leader where no US personnel were harmed, but some journo is on a group chat. is where your military’s ‘friends’ decide they lost their trust. Suuuuuuure

Apples and oranges. And, I think your point underscores the damage caused by the Administration’s misfeasance. While we SHOULD be talking about a strong response to targeting American shipping, we instead are talking about the stupidity of literally our highest officials openly chatting on open and unsecure devices, WITH A JOURNALIST ON THE CHAT, about the forthcoming details of the attack.

The operation was successful. Great. But we got lucky. Very lucky. The leak was only to a journalist who waited until the operation was over before exposing what happened. And we attacked the Houthis, who likely don't have the ability to hack into the conversation, and don't have a ton of friends that might have warned them of the attack. Do something similar, and next time, we might not be so lucky. And relying on luck for success, especially when US service persons live are at stake? Never a good plan. We must do better.

To compare this to Clinton's emails, what she did was wrong. But not at this level. Her most common response in threads that discussed matters of national security was can't discuss anything over this email and to move conversations over to a more secure channel. That should have been the response on the text chain. Instead, actual attack plans were discussed. Again, lucky things worked out OK in the end.

    Which lanes were closed?

Who has been offshore attacking select targets and providing rapid response.

We get it, there's no excuse for it so you have to deflect. Guilt noted

I saw where the CIA director blamed Biden. These people are like 5 years old. Truly an incredible inability to just own it

I'm starting to think the journalist's inclusion was on purpose. Here we are bitching and moaning about the utter disregard for security while Musk and Trump are continuing their blind wholesale cuts to the fed govt especially to the VA, SSA and HHS. This could just be a red herring...
