It’s a different game than when Jackson was at UF. DBs are taller and more contact is allowed. I agree with Wanna. It’ll be tall, long striders like Mizell running those deep routes. He’s just about as fast and probably faster at top speed given his 200 and 400m times.
Hawkins will be more dangerous underneath.

Happy about the pick up but not as excited as others may be. Seems like another Anthony Schwartz. A track guy that plays football. Are the instincts there? His film doesn’t really separate him from others JMO

If we can turn the composite 229th player into a third round pick like Schwartz then that is a huge win. Most guys around that ranking MAY contribute in their third or fourth year.

edit: I get what you’re saying and thought the same about Schwartz at the time. But I also remember him being much better than I anticipated and had to look up his stats. Pretty solid.

McElwain put 18+ guys into the NFL from only two+ classes. This has been verified by the media recruiting articles. he has been our best recruiter in the last He had Jamar Chase and other 5/4 stars committed and we had the #1 recruiting class in the nation when he was fired. Just because he had yellow teeth and didn't wear socks man get a grip... His recruiting classes were Nationally in transition year #23(2015), then #14(2016), and then #9(2017). #1(2018) recruiting class when fired.

Napier worked for McElwain. Napier consulted McElwain before he took the UF job. McElwain told Napier he needed to get $$$, Staff, Support, and Facilities all in writing before you take the UF job. McElwain got screwed by UF and all he did was take us to 2 SEC East championships and SEC champ games with depleted rosters.

One thing about you all on this site is you NEVER do any research, you follow whoever is the loudest and most active, thus making facts irrelevant and points wrong. McElwain also recruited Toney and Pitts more NFL guys.

    Ok, that was bit much.

First, I think most on here have acknowledged that Mac was an above average evaluator of talent. I give him a lot of credit for that after Muschamp drove our brand into a ditch. But Mac was a poor CEO of a big time program.

I don’t care what our recruiting class ranking was in week 2 of August 2017 …it fell off a cliff for various reasons 3 months later. And let’s be honest, he caught lightning in a bottle over a 12 day period during that FNL period. Nothing outside of that ever came close. He had several Mullen like reaches as well …Lemons, Robinson etc. But he never had the balls to go head 2 head with the TOP guys vs big schools. If he was competing in today’s SEC Kirby, Jimbo and even Beamer would be stealing his lunch money.

He was probably good for what we needed at the time. And I mean this with all respect… he definitely saw talent at the 3-star level that no one else did. But he is not the the forward thinker that Napier is. It’s not even close.

all that had nothing to do with the fact that RECRUITING, not DEVELOPING, took a dive from Muschamp to McElwain. The rankings back it up. I’m not sure what all the rest of the post had to do w/anything

Very fair. I guess when I look at the film between him and Williams …(supposedly speedsters). Williams comes across as a baller with more instincts, where Hawkins is more of a situational guy …or some might say a “gadget” guy.

Hey, CBN has certainly demonstrated that he can see talent and capitalize on it. So I’m all in.

I remember Schwartz being more straight line speed and kind of stiff. Don’t recall him being highly productive. Hawkins has some shake to go with his bake and moves well in the open field. Had great numbers his junior season.

I like tall and fast too, but don't discount small-ish and stupid-fast... Jeff Demps was in this speed range and he'd be good right now still... so would Jack Jackson.

Demps was tough as nails also. He'd hit a hole as hard as anyone.

Zook, Muschamp and McElwain were each given one more year and granted one wish from a genie. Zook wished for his players to interact with the campus fraternities more often. Muschamp wished for a huge strong running back recruit willing to play linebacker. McElwain, being the funny man of the bunch, thought of something much more comical. 'Genie', he stated, 'give me a great running back. But in his final game as a Gator, make him shart!' with a smirk on his face.

The year passed for all 3, and they reflected on their respective wishes. Zook told Muschamp the fraternity thing was a horrible idea. Muschamp said asking for a running back willing to play linebacker just ended up with his prospect going to bama. They both turned to the genie and asked where McElwain was, with his running back that would crap his pants. "Oh sh!t", said the genie. "I thought he said "naked shark!"
