That's not how their points system works. They don't rank them by average recruit ranking. They do it by a total points system and a 4 star should have added more points than we had before.
It's a combination of individual rating and the number of commits. Four star prospects aren't all rated the same. Hawkins is rated .9173, which is quite a bit lower than Waller, Filsame, Lagway, Graham, Hayes, Jackson and Chiles. That said, Hawkins is a huge addition to this class and fills an important need which is why I don't care so much about the rankings/ratings right now. I expect a lot of the remaining commits will be players with a low four star/high three star rating who perfectly fit the role they're being recruited for.
We also have a couple 5 stars lingering out there that could pop for thw goods guys like a J. Ross, C. Simmons, trader or Smith, etc not saying they will or are even likely but VERY possible.
We're building a class that is even better than last year's excellent class. This time we're landing lots of stud 4 stars guys AND competing (and getting commitments from) a few 5 star guys. THAT is how we get back to the top. It looks to me like we've gotten our NIL straightened out and aren't wasting much time on kids who have their hands out. The rankings will take care of themselves.
This is the fastest time I've seen on this guy. If accurate, he has a 100 meter time of 10.37, the same as Jeff Demps! That should provide some perspective on this recruit. Of course, he hasn't signed a LOI, but we can pray! By the way, is this source considered reliable?: Florida Football Recruiting: Jerrae Hawkins will be the fastest WR in NCAA
Nah, we are not lucky to be at 4. There is only Texas and USC that are likely to close so well that their average will be like ours and OSU. Only Bama and Georgia are certain to be ahead of us. We have some leans that are going to increase our average too and might have a surprise or 2. We should end up somewhere in the 3 to 7 range.
yea I understand how folks are still weary from where we can/will finish come February 2024 because of the scar tissues of the past few finishes but I think where we're at now.....should be expected. We've typically recruited in the top 10 since Spurrier was here up until McElwain got here and I think we've slowly righted the ship recruiting wise. I don't, even with a record similar to last year, will lead to an exodus from recruits.
I love the direction Napier is going with this 2024 class. Here is a simple fact about Hawkins... Florida Football Recruiting: Jerrae Hawkins will be the fastest WR in NCAA
I think that time was wind-aided but the 10.45 time was legit. He may not improve that time much once he puts on football weight. He’ll be a great addition to the track team but not necessarily an NCAA champion unless it’s an indoor championship.
It's all about how we use him that really matters. I also believe that Lagway will be able to get him the ball 50 or 60 yards down field.
He can but guys like devonte smith are better gotten the ball to quickly without breaking stride than throwing jump balls to Randy Moss types. Sure he can get behind the defense but I’m thinking more of Toney. Get him the ball in his hands and it’s on.
