Have they raised the money necessary to get a top coach and assistants?

One of the joys of analyzing anything is multiple perspectives, not all of which are Gator-centric...

    Pick your poison:
    1. Getting boat raced by the Vols
    2. 5 touchdown loss to Georgia
    3. A close on the road loss to a bad Nole team to end the season
    4. A home loss to the University of Mickey Mouse by Coach Gus

You think we can keep the Georgia game to a 35-point margin? Now that might show the kind of improvement we’ve been reading about all offseason.

Now it’s eight? I remember when five was going to be good enough. Does it hit 10 with his third loss?

If the golden parachute is packed and ready, then don't wait to pull the cord too much longer. The first bye is the week of the 28th. Lose to MSU and give the interim coach 2 weeks to get ready for UCF.

I don’t think there’s any reason to go with an “interim coach” unless you’ve got someone you are sure would be better or the coach you just fired would be so toxic for the rest of the season that it makes more sense to get him out of town. I don’t see either of those factors being at play here. There’s precedent for allowing a fired head coach to finish the season, and that’s what I think we ought to do if it comes to that.

6-6 is the lowest number to even possibly keep his job and that wasn’t looked upon as a sure thing. I haven’t heard a third losing season was gonna do it.

If I was fired, I'm not sure how I could continue until the end of the season. Especially if I'm getting paid.

But I guess at the same time I wouldn't want to abandon my team.

Maybe he pulls an Ed O.

That was really weird with Zook. You almost felt sorry for him the way he rode the season out as a lame duck. Didn't he beat fsu on the way out, though?

I definitely felt bad for Zook. He gave his all but he was lost after the miss state game. As frustrated and angry as a i was as a gator fan at the time, I genuinely felt for him watching that press conference. He looked completely flustered and broken after that loss.

Zook suffered his share of bad luck but he was just so inconsistent. He could compete and beat a top 10 team or lose to the worst team in football (miss state) you just never knew what would happen. Sadly, I'd take that in a heartbeat over what we've had the last 3 years

The question is, can we woo Kiffen if Ole Miss ponies up $12.5M a year for the next 10 years?

That’s a possibility. And if it’s Napier who says, “Deuces,” then I say, “Don’t let the door hit you.” But then again if he wants to keep coaching for his professional reputation, I see no downside at this point. Napier, even after he’s fired, is more qualified to lead this team than anyone else on his staff.

If you mean Kiffin, then yes. Ole Miss cannot win a bidding war with UF, if UF wants to bid.

Admittedly I have some opinions that some might think are off the wall and y’all are free to mock me for those but I wouldn’t want to be known as a liar, even if nobody here actually “knows” me.

Oh, yes. It came up many times in several contentious offseason threads that “four or five” wins would get Napier a fourth season. Sadly, many of Napier’s stronger supporters had the scales blown off their eyes two weeks ago when it became clear Napier wasted the offseason. To be fair, I have not seen any arguments that five wins would indicate improvement since the Miami game.
