    Is this a thing we're supposed to do now? I see it widespread in sports but only recently. Seems to me this lessens the value of taking your hat off for the national anthem.

    I too don't remember seeing it and I don't know that it feels correct but I would go with the flow

    It's a FAR better song, so I'm for it. As for our horrendous national anthem, it is hard to hold my hat whilst plugging my ears.

    God Bless America is easier to sing, and would be a good replacement, but it isn't our national anthem.
