It can be done but some of the announcers were talking about TCU during the game, they have a large amount of seniors, fifth and sixth year seniors, transfers that were 4 year juniors and seniors. In other words a very old and veteran team. That would be great if you can get your players to stick around long enough to have that kind of makeup.

The elite players are going to leave early (usually) so would the trick be to get decent to good players that will stay long enough to be a veteran but not so good that they leave early?

I don’t think “new money” UF fans whose families are from Michigan and Pennsylvania understand how many guys named Thurgood Newhouse Bradshaw Thompson IV there are funding UGA and Alabama from rural strongholds. It’s not the Hathcock and Condron types. There’s an old money pipeline from before Florida was a state.

TCUs QB is 21 I believe and only became the starter this year after an injury. Credit to him for staying with the program.
Maybe teams need more guys like Duggan and especially Stetson Bennet and Hooker, 25 year old QBs. Sometimes luck is a factor.

Taking a seat from another student should no longer be a consideration with online courses. Online may not be an option for all courses but when it is the number of seats are nearly infinite. Yes, we can admit marginal student athletes without disenfranchising another student

That is likely something to do with how the classes are coded. That is just life.

I don't have any idea if we are having problems getting players into school due to admissions standards; maybe that is a problem, maybe it isn't. But the UAA doesn't have anything to do with admissions other than communicating with admissions. UF Administration handles admissions. As for how much Administration interferes with the UAA otherwise, I would say very little. Of course, if our coach or some player did something criminal in nature, etc., Administration would get involved, as would the UF legal department.

And neither the UAA nor the Administration are involved with NIL funding, so redirecting UAA or UF funds to NIL will never happen. They will most certainly keep an eye on NIL to make sure we aren't breaking the law--whatever the hell those laws may be-- but UF Administration and the UAA will never be involved with funding NIL payments-period. I don't understand why people misunderstand this.

I’m a department level administrator. The Admissions office is aggressive in maintaining its autonomy and authority in all admissions decisions. When Jeb Bush led the elimination of “affirmative action” based decisions, that meant the elimination of most factors except grades and test scores. No extra points for being a member of a minority group, no extra points because of your speed in the 40

Well maybe we need to recruit some more Ohio families to move here, because Ohio State appears to understand it.

Some of it is nonsensical though. Going back to the dark ages (quarter system ;) ). I can remember them telling me, you need a science, you have to take biology. Me, I have chemistry and physics, oh they don’t count?

Don't want to put words in iga's mouth, but he is referring to the fact that those other sports mostly exist due to football and basketball, not the other way around.

When you are playing a sport that dosen't bring in the millions it takes to run it at the university level, should you get the same funding as the sports that bring in the revenue? That is the question, Title 9 not withstanding.

I would argue that we did not learn our lesson yet. We have a DC we pay a million dollars to that has 2 years experience as a DC at Louisiana. The other SEC teams say “thank you”. We have a HC that is also our OC and play caller. That is more rare now as well amongst top college programs. Think it places us at a disadvantage. Billy made some poor clock management decisions this year and some of it likely to his dual role. HC must spend equal time with O, D and special teams areas. The two areas outside the top 100 he neglected

But 13 signees are 3 stars....we will see if Heupel talent identification is good. I watched his UCF tenure, and the roster declined on his watch. He certainly has more resources and recruiting support at UT but IMO he has something to prove in that regard. Great offense when it's clicking, no question there....but sustained program success remains to be seen

Let's add a 4th item....resources are finite, many people seem to ignore that crucial point. Until UF has a Ruiz type that is able/willing to overpay just to get kids, then UF will have certain limitations. It's really that simple.
The coaching staff, facilities, academics etc etc put us in position to land an elite class. We did land a very very strong class. But where is the class ranked if we had the cash for Cormani, Samson, Baxter, Bryant, etc? We lost guys to nothing but NIL $$, guys that would have put the class over the top. UF is fortunate in that they are better off than most schools, but unfortunately some of our direct competitors are positioned a little better.

I would be inclined to agree with your suggestion that maybe the Administration should have forced Mullen to take action on TG -- but after he literally checked out on the job it is clear that he was never going to succeed in this job. He apparently never had it in him to do this job at the top level -- didn't have the stomach for the pressure and demands placed on him. Most on here thought Mullen was a great hire, and I don't think there's any way SS and others could have seen that weakness in him ahead of time. The two previous failures are on Foley.

I honestly think they got it right with Napier. We have to give the man the time he needs to undo 10+ consecutive years of destruction to our program. Undo, and then rebuild it right.

Fair point and demonstrates how Ohio State’s primary rival does not buy in to the same level.
