Because A) it is voluntary for disposable income. B) it could be set at a high enough rate where the revenue collected would be higher than it already is and eliminate excuses for the existence of enforcement.

Competition is good right? Why shouldnt the government have competition for its monopoly on violence? :)

We've been paying for it for decades, with squat to show for it. You're kinda buttressing the OP's point there.

    A. Everything is voluntary involving "disposable income." Nobody has to tell me that I need to make the last $10,000 in income or invest disposable income in something that makes capital gains. I can turn down an inheritance. Nothing about consumption is more voluntary than just about every form of economic transaction outside of basic needs.
    B. Which lowers rates of consumption, which lowers rates of capital investment, which lowers demand for labor, and filters through to weaker markets for just about every transaction.

So who is on board with greatly cutting expenditures going to that? *Raises hand*

Cool, Lets zero it out then and quit wasting any money on it since we have squat to show for it. Sounds like a plan.

100% Open Borders is the most badass epitome of being a hardcore Libertarian. Even Milton Friedman realized it wouldnt work.

LOL! A 10-15% maximum tax rate is hardly enough to budget for anything meaningful, certainly not enough to support our standard of living. Methinks you're being very selfish, not to mention bragging.

Better yet, let's just pay the chicoms and the Mexican cartels for flooding our streets with fenty.

According to the Doh! Biden regime, they must be providing a valuable service.

I dont think that is what most of us want. But a Fair tax type of structure based on consumption or a hybrid of much lower income tax with a consumption component....and better accountability as to how it's spent by wasteful politicians is a noble wish.

Here is some advice. Instead of having 100 tax attorneys prepare your tax returns, I would recommend you switch to one good CPA firm.

Except we are robbing Paul to pay Paul less than what we robbed from him.

Both parties are in on it.
Trump and Maga are in on it.
Biden and the left are in on it.
The Kennedy family made a fortune on it.

Y'all need to wake TF up.

Even with some kind of rebate, Fair Tax or other consumption tax would be naturally regressive, wouldn't it?
And the black market alternative would be immediate.
