Then he might be looking at Fudge, who's now 6'9 and Felder as his competition for minutes. That's a shame, as he could play 10-15 minutes this year vs some really good bigs and be ready to shine the following year. Hopefully Golden can reel him back in somehow.
I imagined Reed as a five, at least eventually. Kid is a legit 6-10 and 220 in high school, and his face up skill set is exactly what this staff has used at past stops in their five out motion sets.
He shot 39-121 his senior year of high school, 32%, so it’s not that he can’t make them. That 0% through his college career is a little misleading based off his form & free throw %. He’s always just looked out of rhythm & uncomfortable on his jumpers here, I think if he has a better idea of exactly where his shot opportunities are coming in the offense and when they’re a good shot he could surprise a lot of people this year
It’s always possible for a guy to put in the work and improving dramatically as a shooter in the off-season. Marc Gasol did it just a few years ago (went from making 12 threes in 9 years to making 104 at a 39% clip in one season!). But it’s less likely in college, especially coming off shoulder surgery that takes you out of commission.
I am assuming that none of you know what is going to happen to Keyontae’s status on the team. Is he coming or going? Is he not going to get the green light to play? Will he be affected by the sexual assault charge? If he will he gone or is switched to a medical scholarship, then there is one open scholly assuming Kugel commits. That scholly looks like it will go to a big man. At that point, although I am guessing, we seem to be stronger than last year at every position on the floor along with better coaching and better strength and conditioning. The SEC overall is likely to be stronger too. However, things look pretty, pretty good for the Gators.
I finally have hope going into next season. I knew that we could only go so far with White as the coach.
Which part do you feel is the most impactful change: X's and O's (I know you're big on the system being off), recruiting, staff, ??
My own view is that the upgrade will be to offense. White's defenses usually were good, and Golden's teams have a reputation for good defense as well. I do think he'll improve us in rebounding, which is a key component of defense. Too early to say about recruiting. Golden has done a good job so far, keeping key pieces and bringing in more.
