That would be a sign of a really good coach. One willing to adapt to put together the best team possible and tweak your system to best fit his personnel. I would guess he's thought of what he'd do if Bromme committs and has sold both him and CC on his plans. Should Bromme go to Auburn though, Florida is still going to need 1 more big I would think. Maybe Reed would re-commit if that happens.
maybe. I kinda look at it differently…. and like to see a coach recruit to his strengths and system. That, imo, was a failing of White. For whatever reason he really struggled to recruit to his style, and had a hard time then adapting.
Not only that, but who runs a a high-low offense anymore, especially with two guys who can’t really shoot outside the paint? Maybe Castleton makes a massive jump in that regard, but it would be a tall ask. And in an age of floor spreading offense where you have to switch most everything, who is going to put two bigs out there to defend much smaller players on the perimeter? Really defies the logic of the game today. Then again, like Jared suggests, we wouldn’t be bringing him to campus without some idea of how this might be work.
agree…. and said similar in another thread. CC would certainly represent the shooter of the two, which is not confidence inspiring. I don’t get it, but Golden must have some sorta plan cooking.
I agree that of the 2, CC must be the outside shooter. I really can't see CC ever being a 3 point shooter, but I also don't see why CC can't develop a consistent 15 footer. He would become a different player if he could do that. Golden must be selling him on that. I think both you and Rserina are probably right about fit, but if you can get a big the quality of Broome, how do you not try and make it work.
yeah- on the surface it is really hard to argue against a talent like Broome. But the question becomes, “at what cost”. I do think Reed made a decision based upon who we have added, or may be adding. I’m not saying Golden doesn’t have a plan or that it isn’t a great one. I’m just trying to figure it out.
We need another 5. Reed was a 4. Getting Broome would be a huge home run. The question is how does the playing time get divided up among a lot of really good players without some of them becoming really unhappy.
i can’t imagine Colin stayed so to split time, or that Broome would join for the same. Those are two 30mpg players. If we land Broome, I suspect it would be to play them together… which would have had an impact on Reed,
Broome does not shoot 3’s at all. Golden expects CC to shoot as many as 3 3’s per game. Playing time is going to be an issue at every position if we end up with 13 good players. JJ will be the odd man out if we get Broome. Broome would be the starting center after CC leaves. That might be the big selling point for him. Can White find 20-25 minutes of playing time for him next season. That likely is the key.
White on the brain. I rewrote the entire post, so please go back and read it. I accidentally posted it before I completed it.
you still have White on the brain. Re-read it! Lol! Anyway… as @rserina alluded to, playing two bigs would seem challenging in todays game. I don’t want Colin shooting 3s, nor do I want him defending on the perimeter. From what I can tell, Broome is a really good player who can command 25mpg not only next year, but this year. So I can’t imagine pitching playing time for next season would be effective. We will see how it shakes out. At the very least, it is interesting.
Colin shooting three 3s a game and hitting at a 37%-38% clip? Can I give Coach the “optimistic” emoji?
You’re probably right. Broome could get 30 mpg after CC is gone. CC is going to have to get at least 25 minutes per game next season. So, how do you get Broome at least 20 minutes per game. Broome knows the situation, and he is still coming for a visit, which is somewhat remarkable considering that he has no competition for playing time at Auburn.
yes… this is true, but if we presume Broome and CC will play together— that impacts Reed’s playing time.
