Visiting from the UVa board. Many of us predicting a close UVa win. (UVa basketball Sabre) Couple of things concern me about this game: 1) We had a major transfer (Shedrick) out of the 5 spot. The guy we had transfer in to take his place, Jordan Minor, had a really bad game in our opener, and performed poorly in the preseason scrimmages. Out of position on defense, couldn’t score on offense, and didn’t get on the floor until four minutes left in the half last game. VERY concerning with Florida’s frontcourt strength. He was supposed to be an all-conference candidate. Will need him to step up. 2) Florida’s main strength is UVa’s area of concern. Y’all have three skilled big men? Our freshman Buchanan, who appears to currently be ahead of Minor and was widely speculated to redshirt this season, is going to have to have a career performance. He is doing really well so far for a freshman. But the positional demands on our 5 man on defense are so complex that we always redshirt our big men, nevermind starting against a skilled opponent their second game. 3) I don’t see an easy path for us to defend against your big men shooting 3s. Having said that, I see (or hope for), a defensive struggle that comes down to one more stop. My Pick: UVa 63 Florida 62 MVG - Kugel SOG - even (We shot 4-25 from 3 in our scrimmage. Your length, speed and individual talent will prevent UVa from having an advantage here) Good luck to y’all, but we owe you for that whoopin in the 2017 ncaa tournament.
Watch this guy nail these picks top to bottom and lead in the standings for a month. Lol Good luck, uvabbal.
Thanks for stopping in. Early returns on our front court are very encouraging - we have four (possibly five) useful guys 6’9” or bigger (Samuel, Handlogten, Haugh, Condron). We are assured by his teammates that the two back to back threes were the first ones Micah’s hit since arriving in April.
Early season, anything seems possible. Without really any justification, I’ll go with this: UVA: 72 UF: 68 MVG: Kugel SOG: -1
Have no clue how it'll turn out, but it's definitely a chance for the gators to make an early season statement.
Thanks for stopping by and including your picks . Please feel free to hang around after this contest. It's always fun to chat hoops with fans from other teams . . . 'cept for Kentucky (Actually, we have one good kitty fan on the board).
I have my issues with you but this one time I agree with you. UVa cannot contend with our size. UF prevails.
