At the start of the season when CJR botched the floor score in the opening meet by changing the floor team going into the final rotation, gatornharlem asked if UF had fallen to 3rd in the SEC? The SEC regular season is over so now we have an answer:

    1. Oklahoma 198.040
    2. LSU 198.005
    3. Florida 197.860

The difference between the 3 teams is less than 2 tenths at .180.

Yes, the Gators did fall to 3rd by the conclusion of the regular season. However, those are NQS scores after the team's week 11 performances. UF is also the 3rd best NQS in the nation. The SEC tourney is next week so those scores will be added into the final NQS for NCAA seeding.

    SEC Records:

    1T. Oklahoma 8-1
    1T. LSU 8-1
    3. Florida 6-3
    4. Missouri 6-3

LSU and Oklahoma share the 2025 SEC Regular Season Championship breaking a string of 7 straight championships by Florida. LSU finished 2nd in 2024 and then went on to win the national championship. The Gators are capable of doing the same.

    Astonishing performance. Period.
Hoping they can carry this level into the NCAA finals.

There just weren't that high of deductions as that is a 9.70 combined with a 9.75. The judge that graded 9.70 saw a different performance than I did. However, Skye has something on tape judges scored to work on which is why you have exhibitions. The important thing is we will have Skye available for the post season on beam. Yay!

Don't like this one bit. I think the SEC should just tell ESPN the conference will not prohibit team 9 from performing in the SEC tourney choosing to override TV objections to have a bye rotation in the afternoon session when teams 5-8/9 perform:

No. 16 Arkansas To Miss SEC Gymnastics Championships Due To Conference Realignment

    Gymnastics Championships - Southeastern Conference

When the SEC, Big 12, and Big Ten championships occur next weekend, the Razorbacks will be sitting at home in Fayetteville, unable to record another total to boost their National Qualifying Score (NQS). Just like that, Arkansas now loses control over its postseason destiny. The reasoning? Their conference is too large and too strong.

With their current NQS, Coach Wieber’s team would rank second in the Big 12, third in the ACC, and fourth in the Big Ten. In the SEC, they’re dead last.

As Coach Clark succinctly stated: "The SEC’s focus has to be on how we best prepare our teams to move into the NCAA postseason.” But with the nation’s 16th-best team now removed from a vital scoring opportunity, the gymnastics community looks to the SEC to reconsider its controversial format.

All I can say is it sucks to be Arkansas as the excluded team which finished last in the SEC but ranks in the top 15/16 in the nation depending on how week 11 finishes up. I agree that the SEC tourney should be to prepare SEC teams for the NCAA tourney, not put them at a disadvantage as the SEC did to Arkansas in 2025.

    Correct:

    From article at floridagators.com:

    • Selena Harris-Miranda earned her first balance beam 10.0 tonight. Her previous high of 9.975 was posted twice, including earlier this season.
    • It is her second 10.0 of the season, as she turned in the nation's first vault 10.0 on Feb. 28.
    • She's found perfection seven times in her career – vault (5x), bars (3-16-24) and now beam.
Selena will get the gym slam before her UF career is over in 2026 if not in 2025. Getting 10s are harder to come by in post season when additional judges are added with the high and low tossed out. She is just too good to not get a 10 on floor. I've seen several this season that I thought were 10s but the judges saw differently.

Selena's 39.875 AA score last night is the highest AA score of the 2025 season. That should be good for standalone SEC Gymnast of the Week when combined with her 10 on beam.

I just checked Skye's beam score. The judges messed up:

    Score Card:

    Skye Blakely
    Judging:
    9.725 average

    SV1: 9.80
    J1: 9.65

    SV2: 10.00
    J2: 9.80

    Δ 0.15
    Neutral Deduction:
    Final Score:
    9.725

The head judge should have overridden judge 1 with the 9.80 start value. CJR could have lobbied for a higher start value, and she would have IMO won the argument. There was simply too much difficulty for Skye to be started with anything less than a 10.00 start value. Before the SECs and NCAAs, it must be found out why judge 1 started Skye with a 9.80 start value. Skye should never do anything less than a 10.00 start value.

Correcting the judge 1 start value, Skye's score should have been an average of 9.85 and 9.80 for a 9.825 score which would have been .25 higher than I had her at 9.80.

Skye had a broken connection on her leap series which is probably what caused the large deduction. She is an exquisite beam worker with lots of difficulty and unique skills. She is close.

Check my post #1308 immediately above. Would judge 1 have lowered Skye's start value or given a .2 deduction for a missed connection judge 2 did not see? Seems to me that this should have been worked out by the head judge or CJR should have asked for a clarification. I know it's an exhibition but get it right for Skye moving forward. I agree, she is close.

BTW, I didn't see the missed connection.

I never understand the judging TBH. I’m sure the coach will clarify and no one really debated bc it was an exhibition. I think it was a close call on the missed connection but I have never seen this routine before to compare. It is a routine full of risk that I truly love bc it is so different from the usual back handspring layout leap series full turn dismount. The mount followed by triple wolf turn is really special and I don’t recall anyone in NCAA ever doing a front layout to a punch front. When she is fully healthy she will be special.

Jade Carey had a night for the Oregon State record books:

Carey’s Record Day Leads Beavers in Front of Record Crowd - Oregon State University Athletics

    Vault 9.950
    Bars 9.975
    Beam 10.000
    Floor 10.000
    All Around 39.925

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Jade Carey earned a pair of perfect scores as Oregon State gymnastics finished with a season-high 197.700 in front of a program record 9,042 fans at Gill Coliseum.

She finished the day with a career-best 39.925, which included a pair of perfect 10s on beam and floor and came after a 9.950 on vault and 9.975 on the bars. Carey, who swept the event titles, has now won both the all-around and beam titles in all 10 of her appearances this season.

Looking ahead for Oregon State this week, they are hosting Fisk. Oregon State along with Washington State joined the West Coast Conference after they were left behind by the B1G/PAC 12 merger. The West Coast Conference doesn't sponsor women's college gymnastics.

Jade's father is a coach with his own gym, trained Jade and Riley McCusker. I suspect if Jade wants to coach women's college gymnastics, she will someday have a HC home at Oregon State. I don't know OSU gymnastics history, but I can't imagine a better gymnast to ever come through the program.
