    Scared money don’t make money…..

Got to go into the Lion’s den occasionally to measure up. If given the opportunity, they should go to OKC or wherever.

Kirby, welcome. Your input is appreciated here. Discussion is encouraged.

Going on the road to Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, and competing against Utah in a tri-meet at West Virginia isn't going into the lion's den? We just beat Michigan State at home to open the season to boot.

I'd like to see UF start the season with the first week of the season, but I don't consider our 2025 schedule to be scared money.

Road to Nationals Week 2 Rankings:

    Standings

    1. Oklahoma 197.750
    2. LSU 197.475
    3. Alabama 197.025
    4. Utah 196.788

    5. California 196.775
    6. Michigan State 196.750
    7. Florida 196.675
    8. Kentucky 196.500
    9. Ohio State 196.425
    10. Missouri 196.413
    11. UCLA 196.400
    12. Auburn 196.363
    13. Denver 196.138
    14. Oregon State 196.088
    15. Georgia 195.975
    16. Penn State 195.938
    17. Arkansas 195.875
    18. Stanford 195.600
    19. Pittsburgh 195.575
    20. Michigan 195.450
    21(t). North Carolina State 195.413
    21(t). Minnesota 195.413
    23. Maryland 195.400
    24. Arizona 195.375
    25. Clemson 193.350

I'm reminded of years where UF football fans complained about weak non conference games and how we didn't schedule tougher, more interesting and exciting games. When we actually do that, everyone wants to kill SS because the schedule is too murderous and there's no way we can survive such a tough slate.

From behind enemy lines at Tiger Droppings Gymnastics Recruiting discussing restricted gymnasts during the Sprout Farmer's Market Meet - Clark is HC Jay Clark.

In the discussion, it was mentioned that KJ Johnson rolled her ankle, but nobody knows yet how serious of a sprain Johnson has.

I don't think Haleigh Bryant is ready for anything more than beam at this time.

Konnor McClain says she is close to being ready to add vault to bars and beam.

It goes to show how good LSU could be by the end of the season. The team LSU put on the floor pushed Oklahoma right into rotation 4 before the Sooners put up other worldly performances on bars.

So we lost the meet to MSU? Last I had seen we were ahead. Retroactive scoring change?

I looked at the rankings only and didn’t realize at first that MSU had an earlier meet and that their score was their average for the two.

Yeah, that was the Spartans second meet as MSU started in week 1 which is something I wish UF did.

UF would have scored close to 197.500 had the floor lineup been handled differently as discussed in some posts by me and others above. Anything between 197.300 and 197.500 would have been very good with the tight scoring of the judges on vault.

What I neglected to say is who I would have had in the floor rotation instead of Brubach and Lazzari. Three or four options:

    1. Selena Harris-Miranda
    2. Anya Pilgrim
    3. Danie Ferris
    4. Skylar Draser

Bottom line, UF has depth and better options. Ferris mentioned in the post meet presser that she is close on floor. I don't know why Draser didn't perform in the meet. She was our beam leadoff for much of 2024 plus participated in at least 2 events in every meet including a season best all-around at 39.500. I hope she isn't injured.

Ft Worth hosts the Finals every year. Kindler has a lot of pull and is probably why this year's quad meet was in OK City. She tries to schedule a meet in Ft. Worth every year to give her gymnasts a feel for the arena. This year she scheduled a meet with North Carolina in Ft. Worth.

At the halfway point, our score was 98.525. x2 is 197.050. Beam was 49.500=148.025. A score of 49.000, a low score for the Gators on Floor, and we'd pass 197.000 (197.025). A 49.475 Floor-very doable with the right lineup-then our total would be 197.500, like what ETGator1 mentioned. Harris-Miranda's lowest Floor score last season was 9.825. For the year she scored 9.925 or higher 8 times, the highest being 9.975. If she had scored 9.825, our Floor score would've been 49.300, bringing the final score 197.325, very respectable for a first meet. Replacing Brubach with Harris-Miranda would've guaranteed a win and a score above 197.000.

I don't think Kindler has that much pull with Sprouts Farmer's Market. I'm thinking close to a major program(s) like in Atlanta, Jacksonville, New Orleans which has the platform floor too, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Don't think Detroit is in the cards, but it's close to both Michigan and Michigan State. Nashville is right in the middle of the SEC.
