Texas Southern that 0-7 team that beat the Gators and everyone was crying about how could we lose to such a horrible team just made the tourney. They won their conference championship by 26 points...they might just win a game in the tourney.
The OP insinuated that maybe they were better than we gave them credit for. I don't know about that. They play in an extremely weak conference. Someone in that conference had to get an invite. Big deal. Still shouldn't have got our ass beat by 16 at home by them.
Doesn't excuse the loss but there were several posters that acted like we lost to a high school team and they are obviously a decent team
likely a 15 seed that could easily draw an SEC opponent in the first round (Kentucky, Auburn or Tennessee)
Upsets happen. Getting boat raced at home against a SWAC team that had not proven an ability to win a game in 7 attempts is not acceptable.
They beat us at home and made the tourney when we didn't, so guess they actually were the better team.
Ridiculous. Attempting to gloat about about an 18 and 12 team from an inferior conference boat racing us at home when we were in need of a win to try and stabilize our season as if it's some justification of that pathetic performance. It wasn't the case of losing a close game on a bounce during an off night. But hey..... celebrate your "crow."
Not motivated was one thing that got us, also we hadn’t come together as a team or the coaches knowing who could actually score on a consistent basis. Kowacie Reeves has the best shot on the team, Phlan was the best all round player, Colin finally learned to direct the offense from the high post and get assists and not try to score when heavily guarded by two or three guys, and to do whatever he does quicker. Niels Lane is probably one of the best defensive player on the team, if not the best. He has learn to drive like he means it and finish. His short shots around the hoop we saw in the Texas A&M game. If you watch this early game, Niels probably didn’t play, Kowacie very few minutes and Phlan was lost in this offense. Disaster!
We had a bunch of new players playing together for e first time and you could argue we got worse as the season progressed, whereas you would expect improvement as the team bonded an leaned to play together
They were a horrible team in a horrible conference which gets an automatice bid, and whose top seed was 17-15. There is no excuse for that loss, absolutely none.
