True, I assume Greenland is part of NATO since Denmark is… they are an ally, and if NATO needs use of Greenland territory for some reason during war time I’m sure we can count on them (assuming Trump doesn't permanently kill it). No need for this nonsense Trump is pushing.

 

Exactly…. All you have to look at is all the Americans who think Putin is a hero protecting Russia from Ukrainian Nazis and Zelenskyy is the bad guy who provoked Russia…. And the reason why they think that is because Trump and MAGA are pushing it…. At least 1/3 of the loudest mouthed Americans would buy any excuse Trump gives to invade Greenland and call anyone who protests a traitor.

T: That doesn’t look as big. I want this one and I will name it Whiteland

I read a book in third grade about the life of Leif Erickson. In it it said that the Norse named Iceland Iceland to keep people from wanting to go to that near paradise. They named Greenland Greenland to fool people into moving there. I don’t know how true this was but it seems as if I now know that some people really are stupid enough to fall for it.

Yeah I dont think thats true, but its a nice story. Icelandic culture more or less is built around "this place is hard to live in, but we made it work." According to wiki, the first name for Iceland was "Snowland" so they knew right away it wasnt some kind of paradise. I think the name is just truth in advertising, at least for Iceland!

 

Why would we not offer to lease land in Greenland for a military base, or 2 or 3? We could also offer to buy the mineral rights to other lands and explore for minerals. Why do we need own Greenland? Isn't that what business people do? Will Trump invade Greenland just to get his way?

 

Trump doesnt understand modern imperialism or how American hegemony works, he understands the kind where you control territory and plant a flag on it, maybe build some shitty hotels

 

Not sure how many more bases DOGE thinks we want/need, but we already have one military base (Air Force) there.
