So the GOP had a presser yesterday to announce they have been unable to find or identify any crimes committed by Joe Biden, his family or the wayward Hunter.

However they presented it like they know there is something there and tried to enlist the media to find something. Was pathetic. Right wingers have taken the presser as solid proof Joe is a criminal. Lol.

Here is what we already knew but heard again:
    • Zero evidence ties Joe Biden into any illegal business dealings
    • Zero favors or actions are directly linked to any dealings of his kids
    • The Biden family excluding Joe have business dealings multinationally just like the Trump family, which does however include Donald
    • There are zero laws regulating the type of legal business dealing relatives of the president can pursue
    • There were no accusations laid out by the GOP circus committee nor did they ask for any charges to be filed

    What am I missing?

GOP shows no evidence of crimes at presser on alleged ‘Biden family corruption’

Despite promises to prove Mr Biden’s criminality, Mr Comer’s presentation on Wednesday did not allege any criminal acts by Mr Biden or his family – even as he and his fellow committee members told reporters that Hunter Biden, Mr Biden’s brother James, and other members of the president’s family have been involved in “shady business deals that capitalised on Joe Biden's public office and risked our country's national security”.

Much of what Mr Comer discussed involved bank records which he said reveal that Hunter Biden had a “lucrative financial relationship” with a Romanian national by the name of Gabriel Popoviciu during the period his father was vice president under Barack Obama.

According to The New York Times, Mr Popoviciu retained Hunter Biden, who is a Yale-educated lawyer, to represent him in an effort to fend off criminal charges related to a land deal in the Romanian capital, Bucharest. The funds transfers Republicans suggested were evidence of wrongdoing began in 2015, the year Hunter Biden began representing Mr Popuviciu.

Despite the clear explanation for the transactions at issue, the Oversight Committee chairman alleged that Hunter Biden’s relationship with Mr Popoviciu was connected to the then-vice president’s work carrying out Obama administration policy in Romania, which he described as “a foreign adversary” even though Romania is a longstanding American ally and member of Nato.

Just when I thought the republicans couldn’t get any more outrageously silly I see something like this and wonder if they look at Kin Jong-un with envy.

They want you to believe Hunter Biden had no right to make a living while his Dad was in office.

They also want you to believe it was fine for Jared and Ivanka to make money in international business from the countries they worked with while they were in the White House.

I have a question or two.
    What was the family business?
What did the multiple companies provide to these foreign entities to be paid 10 million dollars?
What did the wives do that had these companies paying them thousands of dollars?
What was the responsibility of the grandkids, that they received these payments?
These are not assumptions; they have the bank records that show the payments.
This all may be legal, and you can assume Joe had nothing to do with it but a lot of this was during his time as VP.

You know, your concern about the Biden's making money off of Joe's clout would be a lot more credible if you gave even 2 sheets about the $2 billion Jared got from the Saudis.

I asked what service did they provide. Can you answer that? What is the family business?
We know Kustner is a real estate and investment guy, at least there is some kind of service he could have provided. I am not saying what Jarod did is ok, but we are not talking about whataboutism here are we? I am asking legitimate questions about what the op provided. Please stay on task

Hunter wouldn’t even be a good “whataboutism” for Jared, since we are talking $2 Billion vs maybe $5-10 million. You think it works in reverse, that pondering $2 billion is a mere “whataboutism” for $10 million??? At least millions could ostensibly be in the ballpark of legal services rendered, provided there actually was legal work done, something we would need to see documented. Likewise, where did the $2 billion get put to use?

Both of these guys are technically “lawyers”, but don’t seem to have built any legitimate business in terms of actual work product. Jared’s father had a RE empire, was also a disgraced lawyer and convicted criminal who Trump pardoned. To say he’s a “real estate and investment guy” seems a pretty broad excuse for billions in payouts to a young man for no apparent rational reason. Where is the ROI for the Saudi’s?

Why are you guys continually bringing up Kustner? This thread is about Hunter, and I asked an easy question. If he didn't do anything but influence peddle, then admit that. You want to discuss Kustner start a thread and bring evidence that he did something wrong. I am not even indicting Hunter or the family here. I am asking simple questions.

Actually, the thread is about GOP hypocrisy as to their latest Hunter “investigation”. It’s only natural to ask, if they are so obsessed with Hunter why are they totally ignoring Jared and Ivanka? Why aren’t they spending even a little time on the much larger (by over 100x!) and much more recent transaction?

Maybe you should have beat the OP to the punch and made a thread all about Hunter. ;)

Conservatives tend to believe their side is entitled to power, and therefore using it to their advantage regardless of ethical concerns is to be expected, because that’s what they would do.

    No not really!!!
This thread is about the presser and what they presented.
If you can't answer the question, please stop moving the goal posts.
Why is it so hard for any of you to say what kind of business they were in?
Just admit that it was influence peddling, but it lacks ties to indict Biden.
Just be honest in the assessment.

In a perfect utopia, none of our elected officials would go into office with a meager financial background and come out 10 years later as millionaires.
That is not the reality on both sides though.
Just admit to what could a drunken, whore chasing, coke smoking, committing adultery of brother's wife, derelict of a father like Hunter could provide to foreign companies.
    It easy!!!

The lack of evidence is further proof of the deep state coverup of the Biden family's rampant criminality

You and the GOP want to take a proctoscope to Joe's son's business dealings when you have no interest in doing the same to Donnie's daughter's and son-in-law's business dealings. You want information on a few million yet you want to ignore billions.

    That's the only issue here.

The thread is mocking the presser for being a joke, putting a “microscope” on activities that are in no way illegal (unless perhaps Hunter failed to pay taxes on income disbursed to him personally, or something along those lines). Do you seriously not get that?

They even try to describe a NATO ally as “foreign adversary” to play into the sham. Lame as hell.

Here is the bottom line. Hunter is a lawyer. He (or more accurately his firm) was hired to… do lawyer work in just the same way you say “Jared is a real estate and investment” guy. One might think maybe he ran afoul of laws that require people to register as foreign agents. But even those FARA Act requirements almost certainly don’t apply here, as he was not lobbying for any *government* (think: Mike Flynn paid to lobby by Turkish and Russian governments, think Kushner $2B $$$ fronted by Saudi government), instead Hunter was representing a Romanian person… as an attorney, in a criminal case against him. Lots more leeway for Hunters activities there provided he wasn’t “sharing” this money with any govt officials (I.e acting as a conduit for bribes).

It may be sketchy, but it’s almost impossible to see illegality, again, unless Hunter hid income from the IRS or unless there is an outward money trail from Hunter to govt officials. Those are the type of receipts needed. Hunter obviously has issues, so entirely possible he did more, but the press conference failed to deliver as usual.

    Here is a plausible explanation:
    • Hunter Biden gets a lawyer job in Romania because he’s a Yale law graduate and his dad is VP/Former VP so he has connections to talk to people and earns a lot of money from a shady rich guy
    • Hunter transfers money to his dead brothers exWife who he is either dating or screwing over by being a douchebag because he is feeling guilty or generous
    • Hunter transfers some to a few other family members he has mooched off of most of his life or maybe it was to lessen tax burdens.. who know?
Point is… there isn’t any evidence or even a suggestion from anyone they are illegal… just more people with silver spoons benefiting from their last name probably.

Folks here like to play it that there is no evidence, fact is the FBI refused to produce the evidence. Big difference.

Comer, R-Ky., along with Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, had initially requested the materials in a letter May 3 to the FBI, citing what they called “highly credible unclassified whistleblower disclosures” about an unclassified document detailing “an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions.”

In his subpoena, Comer demanded that the FBI produce what are known as FD-1023 forms — records of interactions with confidential sources — created or modified in June 2020 including the word “Biden,” along with any accompanying attachments or other documents.

The FBI responded in a letter Wednesday, with Christopher Dunham, the acting assistant director for congressional affairs, saying that while the FBI was committed to "beginning the constitutionally mandated accommodation process," it was also bound by Justice Department policy, which "strictly limits when and how confidential human source information can be provided outside of the FBI."
