Sadly for these aholes, 'to govern' has become to piss away as much money as humanly possible...

Governing also entails funding our military, providing infrastructure which supports our economy and way of life. Is that pissing away money too? Maybe we do away with government altogether and revert back to private armies and little kingdoms?

For some reason Congressional Republicans are only concerned with fiscal responsibility when there is a Democrat in the White House. It didn't really seem to bother them in 2018 and 2019 when the deficit increased despite near record low peacetime unemployment.

So yet another Trump endorsed guy bites the dust. This is yet another reason I don’t trust the polls showing Trump with such a huge lead over the other Pub candidates.

Governing requires thought, compromise and hard work. All something the media star politicians abstain from.

Dems dont have to support this and could derail it by voting against giving the interim speaker powers.

House speaker vote live updates: Rep. Jim Jordan won't hold third vote today

Texas Rep. Pat Fallon told CNN that House Speaker designee Jim Jordan explained at a closed-door GOP conference meeting why he supports the expected resolution to expand Rep. Patrick McHenry's powers as interim speaker.

“He wants the resolution so we can get back to work," Fallon said. Fallon said he understood Jordan's pitch but said he would not support the resolution.

“We were elected to do the work of the people, not kick the can down the road, but to lead,” he said. Fallon said approval of the resolution would come down to the Democrats.

"The Democrats are really going to control it. If they all vote against the resolution, it will not pass because a majority of Republicans are not going to support it,” he said. Fallon said Republicans haven't talked about when they would hold a third vote for speaker. Jordan has already lost two attempts to win the gavel over the past two days.

I saw an interview yesterday with two House member who are part of the "problem solver" caucus One R and one D. They both said this is something they could support.

You’re completely correct. We don’t go $30T in the hole with only one side spending.

I mean, what's the benefit of the Dems supporting it? They've got to bail the dysfunctional GOP out so we can have a functioning govt?

This might be the thing that gets the House back to being bipartisan inside of being R vs D every time. Find a middle ground and work for the betterment of the country.

That's also the crime that McCarthy committed that led to the tantrum caucus ending his speakership. We shall see.

Great thought but I don’t hold out hope. The House has been a circus for decades now. Most of its members did not go there to spend the rest of their careers or to serve and go back home. To them, a Representative Seat is a stepping stone to bigger things, so how well they work for the population at large takes a third row seat to name recognition and party acceptance.

Does anyone here believe that the dipshits like AOC or Gates give half a fart about the population at large?

Apparently there will be a third vote on Jordan today after all, per Fox News and a NYT news blast.

Would surprise me, but I’m not exactly sure why he’d be pushing forward with another vote today if he didn’t think he had a path to win it.

Both good points. I'm not sure if the actual power players know what's going to happen day to day at this point.

There's obviously voter fraud since a Republican can't seem to win

OMG. The utter drama of GOP dysfunction.

Jordan vows to stay in speaker race as tensions erupt inside GOP meeting | CNN Politics

In a sign of the emotional tone of the meeting, Gaetz was at one point told to sit down by McCarthy, a California Republican, and refused to do so, which led to Rep. Mike Bost of Illinois becoming “all emotional and ugly and was cussing him,” and “telling him it’s all his fault,” one member said describing the meeting.
