The gop made this mess. Deflecting to try to pin this on the D's is complete bullshit. Not their mess. Or is it being suggested that they should just stfu and vote for whomever their gop masters tell them to vote for? which is it?

You have to admit, it is hilarious that Gaetz empowered the dems to vote out a republican speaker, while like 90% of republicans wanted McCarthy to stay put. And Gaetz main issue with McCarthy is that he used democrat votes to get something important done ... think about that.

Have to wonder if there is a non maga R that a few Dems could vote for to get a Speaker in place. If not, then I guess the interim guy gets more power.

Dems are floating names like Rep. Liz Cheney, Sen. Mitt Romney, and Sen. Angus King as people they'd vote for. Not sure how practical it is to have someone from outside the house be speaker. I'm not even sure that's a paid position if you don't already hold a congressional seat.

No concerns with that. Patrick McHenry would make a better speaker than any of the people running for it in the first place.

We're missing half of our chiefs of staff and no speaker. Slowly but surely getting that small gov in place...

Another vote is scheduled for 11:00 am tomorrow. Take it for what it's worth, according one media source the second ballot was delayed by Jordan and his supporters until tomorrow because he would poll even worse if the second ballot was held today than he did on the first ballot.

Agree. Unlike both Jordan and Scalise, in fact a majority of Republicans in the House, Patrick McHenry voted to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election.

I don't get it. Why don't they just nominate and elect McHenry as speaker? Too easy and logical?

There have been over 100 cases settled and more than 10 wrestlers have come forward acknowledging that Gym turned a blind eye. Why do you support such behavior by the wrestling coach?
