I think an equally likely outcome - at least at this point- is that Jordan gets ousted by the same mechanism that killed McCarthy or that the GOP loses the majority in the House

“Monster” would be an apt description. Not in the superlative you clearly intended but “of unnatural or extreme ugliness, deformity, wickedness, or cruelty.” Imagine championing people that covered up sexual abuse, engaged in underage sex parties, paid off porn stars, etc. And you think you have the moral high ground.

Maybe Anna Paulina Luna as VP? Trump and Jordan work together to change the Constitution? She serves as POTUS for 50 years starting in 2029?

So much unfinished business from the last time it happened (2017-19) like Mexico paying us for the wall, health care reform, nuking hurricanes, purchasing Greenland....

And if that should happen and it is a real possibility, it would truly mark the demise of the United States of America as constitutional republic. We would end up with an Authoritarian who has no respect for the rule of law as president enabled by sycophants in both Houses of Congress.

And someone who has evaded a lawful subpoena from the very legislative body he wants to lead - for 500+ days now. Perfect.

Although the voting isn't actually over it looks like Jim Jordan has already gone down in the first vote (he lost six nine 10 19 Republican votes and could not have afforded to lose more than five if he was to be elected Speaker). I cannot see it getting any better for the election denying Trumpist in any subsequent votes.

They'll go into their little meetings and put the screws to the republicans not voting for him until they cave. Circa McCarthy.

The question now is how many more futile votes before Jordan finally concedes.

The second one will be interesting. I am wondering if he has a deal with any of these folks to vote for him on a second ballot after lodging their protest vote.

Although Jordan may pick up some votes in subsequent ballots it's extremely unlikely that he will pick up enough votes to be elected.

Talk is that they are going to recess, which does suggest no side deals or not anywhere close to enough to get him there. I'm wondering if the folks that waited were side deals. Either way, not nearly enough.

Is 19 the final number? Interesting, the CNN article yesterday said there were about 20 hard "no" votes, so they nailed it. He might be able to make that up by selling his soul to the most disgusting idiots on team R, the same way McCarthy did...
