This guy was beyond inept. Absolutely worthless. NCAA president Mark Emmert steps down with delayed exit after 12 years leading association
Probably made sure LSU didn’t get put down with out of control athletic department. Their sanctions were a joke, he knows since he was their Chancelor for LSU for five years. Part of the good ole boys network. Their football team should be put on five years probation and not be able to go to bowl games or the playoffs for at least two years.
The time has probably passed, but I hoped Jeremy Foley would take that position some day. Actually not sure why anybody would take that position now. I'm not a fan of Coach K...and his time has probably passed too...but it might take somebody of his stature to reset the organization and take us out of the current "beautiful chaos"
Emmert and the NCAA had countless opportunities to make some reasonable compromises on player compensation and create a structured, well-regulated environment in which players could profit from their labors without experiencing anything truly revolutionary. Instead, they insisted on clinging to a series of legally, logically and morally indefensible arguments to support their decaying, obviously ridiculous system, and once those arguments were predictably demolished in a series of increasingly humiliating ways, they were left standing in the corner with dunce caps on their heads while a party raged on behind them.
Wasn’t the stipend exactly what you are talking about? They wanted to manage it, but the floodgates were too much to keep under control.
