The best zone defenses I've ever seen were orchestrated by Jim Boeheim at Syracuse. And he recruited guys with quickness and length to play that type of defense. When played effectively, even the best offenses struggle against it. Dribbling doesn't work unless you're attacking the rim looking for a quick pass when they collapse on you. The best way to attack the zone is with sharp passes that move the ball around, inside, then back out. Takes patience and skill and our guys lost patience yesterday and got caught in double teams by dribbling too much outside the arc.
I can live with Micah not scoring, but Richard didn't too much in his 26 minutes yesterday. I was really surprised when we went to a smaller lineup down the stretch rather than reinsert Haugh for Richard Men's Basketball vs South Carolina on 3/2/2024 - Box Score - Florida Gators
Richard def needs to find his shot again, he did have some huge defensive plays yesterday. I wish he would put it all together for a run in the tourney.
We had no offensive rebounds in the first 19 minutes of the second half. Haugh hardly played in the second half but still led us in rebounding in just 14 minutes
Alabama game is a huge one now. Got to win this for seeding purposes so won't be a 8 seed or lower come tournament time. Got to learn how to beat good teams, especially in protecting home court and not have lost 3 of 4 going on the road to Vandy.
