Agreed. I think that Florida needs to finish its season on a high note; otherwise, I can see the Gators dropping down to a #2 seed. A team like Houston is still trying to get that #1 seed away from either Florida and/or Alabama. Also, #5 Tennessee can still get a #1 seed should the vols win the SEC-Tournament. -------------------------------------- Men's Bracketology: Kansas keeps sliding Incidentally, Georgia is on the bubble and would love to defeat Florida and get an NCAA Tourney bye.
I agree. We can do the woulda coulda shoulda all day long. One thing is for sure, UF's good/great teams advanced further in NCAAT when they either won the SECT or advanced further than the first round of SECT.
First things first beat ugly! My thought is if we can’t catch Auburn and don’t win the ncaa tourney championship too, then all this hard work is for not, do try to win the sec tourney to put something in the trophy case this year. Btw I think this team can win it all! Also btw St. John’s is really good too
And those teams didn't go 11 deep like the current Gator squad. I think we can give the backups a lot of minutes without dropping off too much and see if we can pull it out.
I think the thing to do is give Clayton, Martin and Richard 22-24 minutes and give Aberdeen, Klavzar and Brown some run. Play hard, try and win, but don't be playing guys 40 minutes.
On the one hand, as long as we're basically solidly in the tournament above the 8 seed line, I think the reasoning makes sense. However, if we needed to fight off the bubble or for additional seeding line I'd hope this isnt a blanket statement. On the other hand - the conference tournament is really fun and I think the most underrated part of March Madness. I always felt bad for the poor bastards who waited till the NCAAs to start watching. And I'll say this. Calipari was a "tournament is everything" guy. He used it to excuse crappy performance during the regular season. And used it to say why he didn't make much effort at the SECT.\ Then proceeded to crap the bed in the first/second round for like 4-5 years straight. Which was a lot of the kindle that created the fire under his hot seat. If you're gonna be a "everything needs to revolve around getting ready for the NCAA tournament" guy, then you better be ready to at least make the second weekend consistently because otherwise you just have more losses than you need to just to still have a first weekend exit.
If we're using last year as a gauge, then yes....1. we didn't move up at all in the rankings despite going to the finals in the best conference 2. we lost Handlogten
Two weeks to go regular season. That is what we really need to concern ourselves with. We maintain our seeding and then we can debate as to what to do in the SEC tourney. i cannot emphasize enough. Its all about seeding.
It’s been my favorite movie for over 20 years. It stands the test of time, for sure. You are obviously a Wes Anderson fan, as well, Baumer.
Yeah screw that. I don’t want to play on Sunday. SEC should have the title game on Saturday. Why punish the champ having to turn around so quickly. Give them guaranteed rest.
I think Todd Golden is the coach and he has a mature, experienced team. If he wants to use the SEC tournament to play with lineups or not wear guys down rather than going all out to win the tourney, I trust his judgment.
