My theory as to why some are very critical of Meyer is that those that vocally supported him the most during his time at UF are the ones that had to go back on their word when talking with rival fans. Now these fans can’t forgive him yet as he personally made them look bad. That and the word Honor of course are the sticking points IMO.

I always thought he was a hired gun and never believed that UF was the top of the mountain (especially when he had OSU and ND in his contract), so I never took what he said to heart.

  2. I assume each of us has a different opinion on this. I was fine with him being a hired gun. I did not like the way he quit then returned in a zombie state. I did not like the way he stated the program was broken or whatever, even though he was largely responsible. I was fine with him leaving for the ESPN job and then jumping on the OSU job. I was rooting for him to at least be average at Jacksonville—that could have won him an enshrinement in the Ring of Honor. After the Jacksonville fiasco I have no idea how he can work his way into the good graces of Florida boosters and fans in order to get into the Ring of Honor.

So.... if you had talented boys that could play college ball, and wanted to win a natty, and Meyer was recruiting them, you would have a morals clause that says no?

That would depend on the other offers. If Meyer was recruiting them, then I’m sure several other great coaches would have been as well (Spurrier, Stoops, Saban, Miles, Richt). Of that group, Meyer would not be my first choice.

As for ROH, look at the other names up there. Do any of the others have the baggage that he brings with him?
