Probably the best thing to do would be ask a few of the 300,000 people who fled to California in 2022. Crime, homelessness, taxes, wackiness, ….. all reasons given by the fleeing masses. The only people moving to California are the homeless and the illegal immigrants.
I lived in San Diego. California is a great place. That is why everyone lives there. Yosemite might be my favorite place on earth sans the crowds.
Suggesting that someone is obviously the product of a poor education is an insult. And there was no argument to lose.
I think you probably need to go back and reread what I posted. I did not suggest he was a product of poor education. The only way he could come to that conclusion is if he agreed with my original premise, which he doesn’t. Therefore, it’s not an insult to him. Logic always prevails.
Construction projects at a halt. Theme parks empty at the peak of the season. No one hanging out on South Beach. It looks like not being woke is killing Florida thanks to its moron governor.
I wouldn't call that particular comment an insult. Seems in that instance he was trying to strut his own point as being superior without actually knowing what I thought about the specifics of the decision. Same time, it's kind of amusing if also a bit pathetic how he (and a few others) quickly resort to insults and ad hom. About Cali. I guess I have a dog in the fight since I live here--but not really since I also have a considerable east coast bias. Where I'm from/where the fam is at Upsides--vast natural beauty and whatever you want to pursue, Cali has it. An interest in helping others, making things better etc. Downsides--victim of own wealth w/absurdly high cost of living (and thus also increased homelessness etc.), metro area traffic (LA purportedly has worst in the world--my take: absolute truth), and the mother of all nightmares: wildfires Crime & drugs otoh are not specific to CA or necessarily worse than other states--though there are specific places that suffer more from these problems. Still, crime is endemic and varies--even more w/in cities & states than b/t them. The effort by some to use them as an weapons is one made in bad faith, though not at all unexpected since the go-to when you are unable to make a reasoned argument is to lob insults and ad hom.
so now that we know where the amuses you, do you want to know what amuses me? When someone posts an article or an observation and instead of addressing the post, people attack the poster, or call the Post stupid or blah, blah, blah, blah blah….then when somebody fights back and gives the attackers a taste of their own medicine, it’s the one who throws the counter punch who’s the bad guy. That may work in your world, but it has no place in mind. I will have a reasonable conversation with anybody on this board, but don’t sit there and act all high and mighty, trying to lecture me about attitude when 80% of the first 50 responses are attacking me or post itself. Maybe 5 people actually responded to the merits of the linked article.
Well geez, given Mutz's thought that your comment was not an insult I was all ready to retract my comment and offer an apology, but here you are doubling down and substantiating my point. #Hugs
You say that you'll have a reasonable conversation--and there seems to be a truth to it imo...but also, imo, you seem to be quick to reach for insults and/or ad hom. I didn't lecture you about anything. My comment was to davisl. Anyway, you get what you give.
I will never ask anyone on this message board for an apology with any semblance of seriousness. I don’t have feelings to get hurt. As @mutz87 says (somewhat) above, I will have a civil conversation with anyone, but if you get edgy I view that as an opportunity to get edgy back, +1. I’m not perfect, but I try to play by those rules.
You really seem to place high importance on being an internet tough guy, doling out your righteous wrath to anyone who wrongs you. God forbid letting a lib get the best of you.
Florida is booming, construction is still active even though dumb joe and his polices have tried to slow it down
The biggest difference is when they can't win an argument they turn to insults, that's their little defense mechanism. If we do insult them or if they feel they've been insulted, they run to the mods and complain, they're a sensitive little group
Weren't you the one bragging how tough you were at some bar a few weeks back? I think you were bragging about shutting up some older person
