GNFP and Offensive Scheme

Oh absolutely. Perception, reality... don't care. He needs a dedicated OC or else any goodwill earned from the recent improvement probably goes out the window immediately

 

Napier does not need an OC his play calling and scheme are not bad, there is actually a lot of really good stuff that they do. My issue has always been the fit for his style of offense at Florida. Heavy TE usage, shifts, and a gap scheme run game. Not exactly the type of offense I would think fits Florida where you can recruit speed and might not have access to the lineman, and tight ends you need to make it work.

That all being said I am starting to see signs of life within the offensive vision. Our running backs are all really physical guys who are decently complete in all areas, our offensive line which mostly entirely returns next year is getting off the ball and moving people. The other issue is the style of ball we play lends itself heavily to complimentary Football, our defense has not held up its end of the bargain until recently.

If the defense can continue to improve, and Florida can be effective in the run game you add in a generational talent at the QB spot I am not sure why anybody would want to change this thing or drastically alter it. The smartest thing for Florida to do and what people may not want to hear is to keep everything we have going as consistent as possible next season, so we can stack this success with continuity within the system and roles.


As an aside a lot people talk about SOS and his scheme in relation to Florida today. At the time sure it was spectacular. But it might as well be a completely different game we are talking about compared to the way defenses play today. If you showed up in 1993 and started calling Tite Front Alignments playing match behind it, people would have accused you of witchcraft

 

Let us play in the ACC we could be top 10

@GatorBait42 love your points and right in about Spurrier, whose offense looked a lot different at the end of his USCe days.

 

Those were his numbers when he called plays in leagues like the ACC, PAC, and Sunbelt who weren't known for defense. He has a far greater mountain to climb now.

 

Throw out the two games when a Yale transfer played QB and our average puts us at 49th. Not great, but better.

 

If you need a generational talent to make your offense pop…… and this with a really good RB room.
No matter how you slice it, when your O output is low in SEC rankings, your D better on fire.

How many times have you seen that throw complete but defenders on all sides of the hitch receiver? They just go to that spot.

 

We could take out the cupcake FCS teams that pad the stats as well. The legit championship teams are in the top 20. Can a BN called offense get there? So far the answer is no, he hasn’t done it yet. Maybe with an improved DJ and better talent around him? We get to find out next season.

 

And timing and spacing. So many times Danny throwing to a spot and the balls in the air before the wide out has even started his final break.
Edit:: one note. Teams today are not allowed to put in nearly as many hours practicing as they did in 70’s n 80’s. This really hurts Qb to wr timing and especially offensive lines as a unit.

 

Same way those nfl oc schemes work with shit for a qb.
