   Ah, the origin story of Patrick Henry’s speech, and William Wirt’s “liberal” biographical account. Regardless of the exact quote, the speech was to convince others to raise the Virginia Army against the crown.
   
   I disagree that it means “give me my guns and leave me alone” at all. In fact it meant the exact opposite. It meant “give me my guns and fight”. There was no MAGA pacifist like today.
