If you frame it the way you do, sure, making people who think it is murder just keep it to themselves is futile. But your words were “taking a life”. That’s not murder. I really don’t think many people who claim to be pro life really think it is murder. I suspect a non trivial percent of pro-lifers would want their wife or daughter to have the option of an abortion in certain circumstances.

While I understand it isn’t an easy issue, I don’t think pro lifers are being honest. They don’t consider the impact that forcing a birth has on a mother, nor do the reflect on grossness of government forcing such actions. I tend to think their pro life beliefs are luxury beliefs - a way to signal their virtue to their fellow flock. Many really don’t seem to care so much about children or the quality of lives of kids in other respects.

Plus at least in the first trimester and maybe a bit later they really don’t seem to have a rational view of what an embryo or fetus is, and their lack of development. One poster here posted a cartoon with aborted fetuses, which looked like near full term babies, talking in baby voices and describing what happened to them. This is how they think. It is completely childish. Or the complete disinformation about fetal heartbeats that do not in reality exist.

As with most things, this is not a black and white issue. A more balanced and nuanced view is probably applicable. Exceptions seem perfectly reasonable, for example.

$500 won’t end homelessness or hunger either.

Correct. It’s the peak of virtue signaling. Most of the hardcore pro life folks aren’t out adopting unwanted black babies or volunteering at women’s shelters to help get women out of the types of homes/relationships that might produce unwanted children. Despite wanting the state’s intervention to save these fetuses from termination, they abhor any sort of state funded welfare for people who are actually alive and walking around. The only thing separating that sweet/angelic/innocent/perfect fetus from very likely becoming a person they loathe and see as a burden on their taxes is TIME.

They wrap themselves in this cloak of morality and then use it as an excuse to go out and vote for a morally bankrupt piece of shit like Donald Trump.

These are not the types that will be compelled by Kamala’s messaging on this issue nor is that her intent.

Look man, it’s obvious to me that the Christian Taliban types are never going to be swayed, and will absolutely justify in their heads that “morality laws” that force their beliefs on everyone else is what America is all about. That is not who Harris was talking to. She just needs to sway maybe 5% of open minded Christian swing voters who may be struggling with this that it’s okay to vote for her and not be an oppressor, and that vote doesn't affect their faith. … and she wins. I think she framed her thoughts clearly and perfectly to make that pitch. I mean, there probably are some non hypocritical Christians left that might be struggling with wanting to vote anti abortion, but also supporting the guy who rapes, incites violence, pays for sex, commits fraud, etc,…

Wish she would correct people on her name pronunciation. But the Americanization of her name is also the epitome of e pluribus unum assimilation.

    I appreciate your thoughtful response.

To build on your policeman analogy, if you have a child in your home, you have an obligation to take care of that child and to provide shelter, food, clothing, and medical care. If you neglect those, you be questioned by the authorities. If you allow the child to die of privation, a policeman will arrest. If you decide you don’t want the child anymore and chop her up with a knife, the government is going to severely interfere in your life.

A couple weeks ago someone asserted that supposedly pro life people don’t care about the kid who’s killed by a bullet, which is not true at all. However, that person would’ve had no problem at all if the same kid who was killed by the bullet had been killed with a scalpel earlier in his mother‘s womb.

Your last two paragraphs succinctly and accurately describe the impasse between pro-life and pro-choice people, and you did that without negative caricatures or derogatory language. Thank you!

Neither will electing any particular POTUS.

It would damn sure give one person a pile of groceries today though.
It might be enough to help someone who needs to get into an apartment also.

I’ve been critical of Netanyahu in the past, but Kamala Harris was very disrespectful to him this week. You can tell she’s trying to play that game to appease the radical left in the Democratic Party.

Absolutely devastating one-minute clip reveals the entire US media's propaganda game... - Revolver News

"Watching that one-minute media clip, two thoughts immediately spring to mind. First, Kamala Harris is such a weak candidate that the media is willingly sacrificing the last shred of credibility they might have had—and it’s only going to get worse. The more she speaks, the more she deteriorates. You can tweak failed policies and flip-flop on hotbed issues, but you can’t fix a terrible personality, and unfortunately, that’s exactly what Kamala’s got. She’s simply unlikeable. The second takeaway is that our media’s propaganda game is so over-the-top that even North Korean officials must be watching in awe."

1.5% of the democratic vote in the 2020 primary.

It is amazing how many different made-up stats have shown up on here of her vote totals in a race for which she dropped out before voting started.
