After careful reflection... Today, it would have been a penalty, an ejection, he would have to forfeit NIL $, then he would have been held out for the first three games of the next season! HA! Man, what a hit! Go Gators.
Teams take on the personalities of their leaders. We haven’t had many good leaders. That’s called culture and it doesn’t always changed easily. Muschamp kicked some talent out the door and his offenses were awful but they weren’t loafers.
Defense looked really good in first scrimmage with three interceptions. Tackling was really good, especially in the secondary. Pup Howard stood out.
A player I know hardly anything about is Josiah Davis and he's making noise. I just read he was a three star out of Georgia and has very good speed! At least I can't run a 11.2 100 meter dash, and he did that as an 11th grader! Nick Marcinko just reported he is competing for the star position with Aaron Gates and Sharif Denson. Is it just me, I thought of Denson as more of lightly-built cornerback?
The ratings on last year's secondary was horrible! No surprise! Jordan Castell had the best rating, but his rating was nowhere close to being stellar! I don't understand the numbers rating, but Castell was 175, Miguel Mitchell 810, Jason Marshall 455, Jayden Hill 619, and Jaylen Kimber 433. I only understand the higher numbers are not acceptable. Again, Castell was a freshman, so the 175 can be overlooked. Most of those players are gone. We can only hope the TP players play exceptionally better.
It’s pretty scary but if you have a pass rush and some linebackers do their job, the secondary automatically gets better without doing another damn thing
This thread seems like the best place to put this video of Devin Moore... I like what he's saying, and he seems to be echoing what all the other defensive players are saying about our new coaches and defensive approach/scheme. He seems to be fully healthy ad ready to go. Plus he tells us what he thinks about the younger guys... if true, the future is BRIGHT in the DB room, for the Gators. Devin really likes Will Harris and his coaching style/knowledge of the DB position. Gators CB Devin Moore finally healthy and ‘ready to turn it loose’
For sure, but I would say 3rd and Gator occurred so frequently last year that the D's incompetence will be forever as memorable as Ike Hilliard's catch in the 97 NC game.
I hope the entire defense attacks all ball carriers in the same way; good form, wrapping up, and running through the player.
Agree, no more breaking down 5 yds early and wait to get juked. coaching matters. and give those guys some of Dez’ plate and some extra Gator Growthade
I'm reserving judgment for the real season. Have hopes for a turnaround, but have the "wait and see" attitude. Maybe I should be from Missouri, The Show me state!
Watch this and see if this doesn't fire you up? Stephen Harris said this was what he was hoping to see last year!
