So the initial report blames the accident on the female staffer and high rate of speed, denies alcohol was a factor, makes no mention of a second vehicle and then this Gant guy and the police expect people to believe that his presence on scene had no influence in the investigation?

Carter was popped going 89mph in a 45mph zone back in September too. He obviously didn't learn anything from that experience and the consequences imposed.

Thats because Bryan Gantt was probably the one who wrote the initial report on a napkin and that’s what the police used as the official

He’s probably got a Word template ready and he just has to fill in some of the specifics for each incident. Goes along something like this:

    “Alcohol was NOT a factor”
“UGA player _______ was driving within the speed limit”
“UGA player _______ was at home studying and has alibi”
“Eyewitnesses don’t know what the hell they’re talking about”

And the stories coming out of Athens and the automatic denials or downplaying by Georgia coaches is starting to SMELL like Tallahassee!

Huh, why didn’t you do this early that morning, seeing how one of your teammates and a female staffer were killed???

Pretty obvious Kirby just brought over everything he learned at Bama under Saban and the university was just as happy to sell out for titles like Bama's. Yes all programs bend rules, cover for athletes, etc but it takes University buy in along with other entities to operate the way these guys do. Nebraska in the 90s was the same. I'm sure Meyer tried some and got away with some but it wasn't going to be endorsed at an an administrative level or sustained how he ran it from UF administration long term. And yes I remember UF giving Meyer every opportunity to stay on at Florida but there's no way we would have given him the same support Bama and Saban operated at. They changed the game knowing the NCAA was no longer going to be able to hold anyone accountable and ushered in a new era.

Just a guess but it might well be that Carter didn't leave the scene, at least not initially. My guess is that the survivors contacted the "cleaner" or more than likely a coach who did, and the "cleaner" advised them what to do and say.

Carter and the others were probably told, especially if they had been drinking, that it was best for them to go and let him speak to the police. By the time the police figure out what's going on, he can call them back and they're likely sober enough.

Pretty sure we probably have a couple of lawyers on staff for situations that come up as well. Maybe not this serious.

He participated in recklessly illegal acts that resulted in the death of another.

You may not think that makes him culpable, I do.

ESPN and the other networks should exercise their power to reach masses and do a story juxtaposing this crash/deaths with Henry Ruggs' crash/death. Enough fluff pieces. Usually I gripe about how much negativity permeates news and social media but in this instance, the sad and ugly realities of what happened in each of these cases need to be hammered home.

I get that young people feel invincible and do stupid things. I don't condemn people for mistakes. But given the horror of what happened to that girl and her dog in Las Vegas as well as Ruggs ending his own life, it boggles my mind that people so close to that situation could make a similar decision. It's arrogant, entitled, reckless, selfish etc.

Do the right thing college football, NFL, sports media, etc. Don't gloss this one over. Make their deaths count more than sports.

That caught my eye too. So I checked, no, he didn’t. The case is now on it’s 4th judge and the preliminary hearing originally scheduled for Dec 2021 still has not happened. Pathetic!

Henry Ruggs III’s preliminary hearing gets sixth date
