    You don't disagree, do you?

You'd be fine if right now Joe Biden was establishing fake elector slates, publicly lying about fake election fraud, coercing state officials and inciting an attack on our government?

Or do we pretend that none of that happened because Trump got a lot of votes in 2024?

So if it was decided that he actually won the election and was made the president, he would have served his 2 terms and not been your new president

Uh, yeah. Whoever wins the election is indeed made the president.

Most people don't enact a criminal conspiracy to overturn elections they lose though.

Neither of these points are revelatory. Of course it HAS been revelatory to see how many people will vote for a criminal who does such. Sad, but revelatory.

jo, Trump voters will approve of any policy decision he makes, and certainly any political and ecomomic restruturing he makes beacuse......he is their god, perfect in every way. I wonder what year in his reign he decides to take the vote away from the citizenry and appoint one of his "boys" as the next Emperor?.

The comedy of this (or tragedy, if you prefer) is that both sides have their voters with reasons for why it would be "unacceptable" to vote for the other side. The common voices on this board give the appearance that a significant amount of people may not have the ability to understand where others are coming from (and that is a more complex issue than what is the "truth"). If it is true that one side is right and the other is wrong, such a claim is useless as a stand alone measure to help people better understand your point of view let alone helping them to make adjustments to their own (if that's even remotely close to one's goal, why should it be? many takes are clearly for entertainment value).

So much of the time is spent on what "the other" is doing wrong without a recognition of what "we" are not doing very well. Little (if any) time is allocated towards fixing our own house before pointing out what's wrong with our neighbor's. Imagine if our resident party lovers expressed half the concern with their own party before seeking to address the issues with the other party.

Damn, I miss a decent daily paper. Especially a good local one that I could spend a good long time reading and left a bit of organic ink on my fingertips. Unfortunately, newspapers have gone the way of horses and buggies; only remaining as novelties. Social media, 24-hour so called news channels, and our unfortunate shrinking attention span have killed the newspaper industry.

    Respectfully, I disagree 100%.

Illegally trying to deny the will of the people through a criminal conspiracy to overturn an election is a deal-breaker. It is un-American, criminal conduct intended to disenfranchise 10s of millions of voters, and to unlawfully cling to power.

That is what we saw happen.

    - Repeated public lies. Fake elector slates. Inciting a violent attack on our government. Coercing state officials ("I need you to find me 11,780 votes.")

Nope. That's unacceptable. Traitorous. No go. And the answer isn't; "Hey I can't criticize that because my party has an unclear stance on immigration."

So circling back to the original point I made; "One of the main things I keep saying is that it is unacceptable to vote for a person who tried to overturn an election and deny the transfer of power."

That is STILL TRUE. Are people who refuse to vote for such an un-American traitor morally superior than those who will tolerate such un-American, criminal conduct? Yes indeed they are!

Do you see those who voted for Trump as a lost cause or otherwise unreachable with respect to the morally superior?

Wether you believe it or not there are a lot of people who don’t like Trump and think Jan. 6 was wrong, but still voted for his party affiliation, positions, and some against Kamala. Enough to make the different in the election.

In the end some may be sorry for it.

At least he will go away in 4 years.

The Democrats tried to steal the 2024 presidential election as well. No telling how many seats they stole down-ballot.

While the “morally superior” clause in your post engenders certain bias, the simple answer to your question is yes. Case in point- no matter how well-crafted and informed argument I pose regarding Trumps danger to US education, I could not sway my own mother’s vote.

Is it possible that you are generalizing based on a small sample size? If you had to guess, what percentage of people do you think would have preferred a different candidate represent their party than the one they voted for?

At the end of the day we can either choose to try to reach people (whether that's our limitation or theirs or some combination in between is to be figured out) or we can choose to accept that *they* are simply permanent enemies and the only way they can be defeated is to out-number them or out reproduce them in hopes that our offspring will not turn to the *dark side.*

With respect to your mom, it's worth understanding why she came to think the way she thinks and see what may potentially be preventable (either by policy changes or interjecting opposing thoughts for consideration or what have you). That she may not have voted the way you want this time doesn't mean that there's not a process to understand in terms of how she came to see things the way she did.

    Just my two bits.

Oh, I totally believe it. We all know it.

They enabled a criminal. The Republican party has leadership and (many, many) members who have told repeated lies about Trump's crimes, in order to gaslight the public, and prevent him from even seeing so much as a fair trial. Never mind that they should have impeached him.

Any who claims to oppose Trump but also votes for ANY Republican is like........someone who says they hate a criminal, supporting that criminal's get-away driver.

(And in fact, assisting that driver be more effective in getting the criminal away.)

I think they're like Nixon supporters. Just opinion but I think they'll largely return to normalcy with time. As long as MAGA is defeated at some point, and the politics, policies and behaviors of lying and hate are defeated. (And no, it can NOT be said that either Biden or Harris equal MAGA in any of those regards.)

Consider though; Nixon had support of mid to upper 30%s when he resigned. The biggest real differences between Trump and Nixon are the levels of criminality, (Trump obv much greater), and the fact that the entire Republican Party didn't rally around Nixon and effectively say "For the sake of power, we'll stick with you no matter the criminality. We'll abet every crime and tell every lie it takes." They told Nixon that there was a line he had crossed.

IMO there will be a day when the GOP again has some modicum of morality, and adherence to rule of law. It may only be because a spray tanned cult leader clown can't get them all primaried on a whim, and they can pretend to have morals...........but yeah, IMO there can be at least some redemption.

    Also, I guess it needs to be said;

A ton of Trump voters clearly weren't in the cult this time. They just voted for him on the economy, or policy, or the border. They are actually so abjectly ignorant as to think that Trump is superior on actual policies, meaning..........in their total ignorance, they don't know about his criminality, his racism, his sexual assault, his un-American conduct, his fealty to Russia.........

.......so yeah, many of those people will remain insanely ignorant, yet vote differently in the future.

Are you sure? He has already shown on Jan 6 an utter and total disregard for the US Constitution.

I do not put it past the Terrorist Organization known as the Republican Party to 100% support Dictator Trump when he declares a modern day version of the Enabling Act.

Kamala loses a ton of voters and it is all Trumps fault.
Democrats spend for years demonizing, degrading, mischaracterizing the right and don’t understand why the right voted against them.
Democrats have a coup to remove a senile Joe Biden… whom they rallied around and said was as sharp as a tack and running circles around them.. to insert Kamala who admitted Joe ran circles around her… and still can’t understand how they lost the election.
At what point do the Dems realize they screwed the pooch . Better messaging, better candidates, less insulting rhetoric and they win.
But no.. here we have a dem still insulting, belittling, demeaning those on the right.. not just those who voted for Trump but anyone who voted for ANY repub…
Keep it up Jo.. your helping the republicans more than you know.

Issue is democrats won’t take or admit any responsibility for Trump being elected by not providing a decent opponent. Jo is a prime example as all she sees is trump the criminal yada, yada, yada.

I voted for Trump in 16 and 20. Don’t regret it especially in 2016 because I wanted conservative Supreme Court justices. This time I voted for Kamala hoping she followed her message of getting along and representing everyone, and including some pubs or republicans in her cabinet. Trumps comments about retribution also didn’t sit well with me. That’s only the second time since I registered I voted democrat even though I’ve been a registered Democrat my whole adult life. All my buddies voted for Trump.

Oh, I doubt it. I hesitate to think that I personally swayed many voters, but I appreciate your estimation of me.

That said, I WILL keep it up. Pointing out the character and patriotism of anyone willing to cast a presidential ballot for a person who clearly enacted a criminal conspiracy to overturn an election.

What could be a more vile dereliction of responsibility as an American voter?
