Was watching some XFL and Orlando has a couple former Gators, Kelvin Taylor and Matt Elam. Anyone know of any other Gators on the other teams?
I watched some of the first weekend, and given the talent pool and the circumstances, I thought it was pretty decent football. I dig a lot of the rule changes, too.
Not regarding Gators in XFL but a pretty bad start for the XFL in terms of TV ratings. The opening game had an audience of 1.57 million compared to 3.3 million for the first XFL game in 2020 and 2.95 million for the USFL in 2022. Granted there was some competition over the weekend for viewers with Daytona 500 and NBA All Star Game, but that's less than half the audience of the last go around and TV rating drop off quickly after the first game. Plus the USFL will compete head to head starting in April.
The games I saw this past weekend were all on ESPN but I think they were also on NBC. Never saw an ad but ran across it on the guide. T. Buckley was the head coach in one of the games. Kind of like some of the rules but not all. Don't like the running clock on an incomplete pass.
