More good news, Taylor Manson, by finishing 7th in the 400, made the relay team, so she is going too. So three Gators made it yesterday.
Here’s what’s still coming (at the bottom of the article) - track picks up again on Thursday.
McGee, Claye Nab Olympic Team Berths - Florida Gators

Good day on the track, all prelims for the Gators.
Claire Bryant, true freshman at UF got the 12th and final spot into finals in the long jump.
Kyra Jefferson is through to the semis of the 200, 11th best time out of the 16 that advanced.
TJ Holmes just made the semis of the 400H finishing second in his heat; 10th overall
Cory McGee was supposed to run the 800 but after she made the team in the 1500 she scratched.

    Holloway gets going tomorrow.

Couple more going for other countries:

Gen is as Aussie steeplechaser and was teammates with Cory McGee at UF years ago. She became quite famous internationally when she hopped onstage with the band during the closing ceremonies of the commonwealth games a few years ago.

I may have mentioned this, but he will be competing for Liberia (both his parents are from there).

Well Holloway just cruised in his prelim heat.
    Semis tomorrow and finals Sunday.
Marquis Dendy is expected to make the team in the long jump and easily qualified for the finals today.
Avione Allgood-Whetstone finished fourth in the prelims for the javelin and will make the final (top 3 go to the games).

still some heats later today for some gators.

Whetstone made it to the olympics in the javelin, threw a personal best to get it. Great effort by her, she wasn’t seeded to make it.

Uggh, just read she doesn’t have the Olympic qualifying standard even though she finished third :(

Holloway ran a little slower in the final, but still won it.
    Headed to Tokyo.

Can this thread be stickied to the top?

Also can someone post all of our Gators that will be going to Tokyo?

    Thanks...

I'm glad for Beal, but that just brings up the old bitterness that John Thompson brought his freshman Mourning to the Olympic team instead of Shintzius. Dwayne was the best center in college that year, but Thompson wanted to give his freshman the exposure.

I think that was the last Olympics before the NBA took over.

And wasn't that the first US to not get the gold, not counting the stolen one in 68.

The last night of track got delayed because it’s 110 degrees in Eugene today and gymnastics will finish late too. Will try to update it this thread with those, and then come up with a list of what I know either late tonight or tomorrow. UF also does a list at some point as well, they will almost certainly have at least a few and maybe more I don’t know about (foreign athletes mostly).

Riley Mckusker, incoming freshman, had a good shot to make the gymnastics team but had a bad routine on the final night and they didn’t take her. I didn’t watch but lots of folks online seem pretty upset about it.
