I think its going to take winning on the court to get more fans to follow the program. WBB may be our worst sport historically. Always thought the UAA sort of treated the program as an afterthought. Have heard we may start investing in the program more, and hopefully that is true. It can be done. South Carolina prior to Staley didn't bring in fans or have good teams. The coaching situation/hire is going to be interesting to watch. If we really have some exciting names interested in the job and Kelly somehow pulls a much better than expected season, its going to be a tough decision. Of course it is just as possible that things go South... our 2 wins are against teams that are a combined 0-8 in conference. We will know a lot more in short order with the upcoming schedule.
History can be overcome. There's no reason UF women's basketball can't be a top-level program. Kelly deserves a legitimate chance to show us what she can do this year, by the way. It's kind of counterproductive to talk about new coaches in midseason when the team looks the best it has in years.
New coaches will be in the conversation regardless. They were always going to be given the situation.
