O'Connell Center for a noon ET tip. The game will be streamed live on SEC Network with Tiffany Greene and Steffi Sorensen on the call while Kyle Crooks and Brittany Davis will handle radio responsibilities on 98.1FM/850AM WRUF. Florida earned their biggest win of the season last Sunday, taking down #11 LSU in Gainesville, 73-72, behind a strong defensive team effort that led to a 22-8 points from turnovers advantage. The victory marked the first time in a season that UF has defeated three top-25 teams since the 2015-16 season when they defeated No. 6/7 Florida State, No. 12/11 Tennessee, No. 12 Kentucky and No. 12/11 Texas A&M. It was also the highest-ranked win for UF since an 82-72 victory over No. 6/7 Florida State on Nov. 16, 2015. Kiara Smith earned SEC Player of the Week honors following impressive performances against No. 23 Kentucky and No. 11 LSU. The two games marked the best two-game stretch of the season with 48 points, 11 rebounds, 14 assists and four steals. Against UK, the graduate led the Orange & Blue with 25 points, eight rebounds, six assists and a steal on 10-of-18 shooting. She then followed that performance with a 23-point, eight-assist, three-rebound and three-steal performance in a 73-72 victory over No. 11 LSU. After earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors for her performances against Auburn and Alabama two weeks ago, Alberte Rimdal was named the USBWA Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week last week. Rimdal became the first freshman in Florida history to record back-to-back games with five made three-pointers after hitting five against Kentucky. The Gators earned their fifth-straight win in the SEC after defeating No. 11 LSU, marking the first time since the 2008-09 season when they won seven-consecutive conference matchups. It's also the first time that the Gators have had two-separate five-game winning streaks in a season since the 08-09 season as well, with streaks of 11 games and seven games, respectively. The Gators are receiving votes in both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll following wins over No. 23 Kentucky and No. 11 LSU last week. It's the first time since December 21, 2016 that the Orange & Blue are receiving votes in the polls. South Carolina enters Sunday's contest boasting a 19-1 record, 7-1 in Southeastern Conference play, while holding the No. 1 ranking in the nation. South Carolina has turned its 16.6 offensive rebounds per SEC game into an average of 16.4 points. alot of missed layups, but damn the refs let SC body every layup attempt pushing the girls off line. If they are not going to call it, then we are going to have to adjust the touch on our shots. it is effecting all parts of our game mentally now.
we let the refs get into our heads and we stopped going inside because we could not get a layup nor get a call really. Just a horrible first quarter for the ladies. Shooting 5% from the field and 25% from the FT line
and we missed at least 9 layups, now at least half we were fouled on, but all of them were makeable and the shots rolled around the rim and dropped off instead of going in. You would think we did not have open shots, but we did.
they do not want to call fouls on SC, doing all they can to avoid it, no matter if they go over the back or grab an arm on the floor. Then their bigs are allowed to take as many steps as they want or spend all the time inside the paint that they want without calls
dude you are a great poster, but seriously, has there ever been a women’s basketball game where you thought we weren’t getting hosed by the refs? it’s depressing that they finally get a crowd and shoot 1-20 in the first and shot themselves right out of the game. But such is UF women’s basketball. For every step forward there is a massive step back.
so many missed layups, our girls are minus 2 to 4 inches at every position. We have to get more length on this team to be able to compete with them. we can get the shots we want, we just cant make them
dude the first quarter was a mess, did you see the shots we were trying and our girls getting knocked down taking it to the basket? And if you dont like what I type ignore it. Have you not read my other posts saying what we need to compete with them. I will post the way I see fit, I been an avid womens basketball fans since the 80s. How many years you been going to the games?
I admire your fandom, seriously. I said you a great poster. I don’t claim to be nor have I ever been as big women’s basketball fan as some here and I have made that clear. So if the argument is “who’s the bigger WBB fan?”, you win. But I still want them to win, so I follow the threads on it. And every game you think we are on the short end. From my POV they were just letting the teams play for the most part on drives, so the more physical team wins that war, and that is SC. I could point to four or five plays in the first where Sc thought we had fouled, but it’s not worth arguing over. As for the first, they looked rushed. SC’s length was part of that, and maybe the week off was too, but everything was too fast offensively. They got up 6 more shots I think, and were down by 16, which is just crazy. I didn’t expect to win today, but I was hoping it would be a competitive game for the fans, that’s what is most disappointing. But still a lot to play for.
My goodness, they are on track to score fewer than 30 points. Everything seems slow and uncomfortable on the court. South Carolina is good, but they aren't THIS good to where they can't even score 20 points in a half.
