Per Buddy Martins show on YouTube last night. We are ranked above Houston, LSU and PennSt. & Providence for ex. Great job by Golden & staff!
impressive! and we aren't done yet! Who is the gem, so far? Clayton? What is he "ranked", if there is such a thing.
I think Clayton is def the gem, as we desperately need another shooter/scorer. Jarvis was a major pickup and the center from Marshall was a dire need. CTG is doing a great job in the off season!
We'll be really happy with all three of these guys. Each one fills a need and brings something different to the table.
Last year many ESPN talking heads also loved our transfer class. I heard many times pundits single out our transfer class as being special. The beauty is in hoops, one player can 100% change the dynamic of basketball team --- look at Manek and UNC 2 seasons ago, the kid in my opinion was the X factor and helped spread the court for others to be successful.
Agreed. They fill immediate needs, which seems like the most responsible and effective use of the portal. But ultimately this team will go as far as Kugel--maybe to a lesser degree, Richard, and to a lesser degree still, Fudge--take it. These guys know our system, they know our league, they have played together, they have produced, and the coaches trust and know exactly what they have in them. Last year, I thought our season depended upon Reeves making a leap, Jones rebounding to his Penn State form, and Kugel contributing immediately (I knew what we were going to get out of Castleton). Unfortunately, none of those guys hit that mark at the same time. Reeves played well early, at least offensively. Jones hit a nice stride early in conference play. Kugel closed out the year on fire. But we never got all three firing together, let alone alongside a healthy CC. I feel the same way about Kugel, Richard, and Fudge. If Kugel carries his late-season into next season, Richard becomes more assertive offensively, and Fudge gets more consistent, there will be far less pressure on the portal guys, which in turn means they can find their roles more naturally.
I think it’s fair to take a wait and see, but a couple of points in the plus column. According to one site I read, the average ranking for the guys were pushed out was around 89, and the guys we picked up were 93. So we should be upgrading our roster. The guys that transferred, with one exception, were holdovers who either shouldn’t have been there in the first place or showed why they shouldn’t when the lights came on. So that was a large part of our struggle this past year. With Golden being able to have more evaluation time this year, hopefully this is a better batch. And our two biggest problems last year were rebounding (size) and shooting. We have done a good job on size, and are about halfway there on shooting. We need a PG who can shoot, and one more interior player, and we should have a good base IMO. So while it is certainly possible this class ends up like the last one, there are a number of reasons to be hopeful.
True, but the same can be said for HS recruits. Our hit rate hasn't been very good with either group in a while.
Most female Nole fans end up in the porn industry. The men, not so much. They're a bit "short" on talent.
Louisville transfer Ellis joining Arkansas hoops Arkansas not doing terribly and West Virginia has picked up two very good transfers.
