This year has flown, and the regular season is winding down with only 2 games remaining. The Gators play at Vanderbilt (12-16, 3-11 SEC) at 6:30pm ET. Vanderbilt should be a win, but you can never count a road game in this conference as a win. Shea Ralph (former UConn player) has Vandy playing better than the last few seasons. The game will air on SEC Network for anyone wanting to watch. Florida is battling with LSU and UT for the 2-4 spots, while Ole Miss still has an outside shot if everything falls their way to enter that mix. Florida holds the head to head tie-breaker over TN and split with LSU. If it is more than 2 in the tie it will go to record against the highest placing team (USC) and moves down the list from there. We lost to Ole Miss so let's hope we win out, LSU loses at UT, and South Carolina beats Ole Miss (just to be safe). Here are the current standings entering the final few games: 2022 SEC Women's Basketball Standings Another thing to watch is the team going for win number 11 in conference. That would tie the 11 wins in 00-01 by Ross for the most in a season (14 games then instead of 16). Win out and it would be 12 SEC wins and the most in program history. That would be extremely impressive, and likely get Kelly SEC Coach of the Year. Barring something related to the Newbauer situation, I can't imagine she isn't named permanent HC. Who knows... with a Top 25 RPI currently we could conceivably still get a Top 4 National Seed if we win a couple at the SEC Tournament. Hope everyone tunes in, and Go Gators!!!
How long has it been since we paid attention to how the last two games would impact our TOP FOUR seeding in the SEC tournament in basketball?
Indeed. In fact, I'm much more engaged with WBB now than MBB. It's not just the door shutting recently. It started a few weeks ago. It's just such a compelling story.
*IF* FLORIDA wins out, I believe... FLORIDA is at least a #3 seed in the SEC Tournament FLORIDA would be a #2 seed in a 3-way tie scenario (UT and LSU win tonight; UT wins at home on Sunday afternoon); the three-way records of the teams would be FLORIDA 2-1, Tennessee 1-1, LSU 1-2 FLORIDA would lose all other 2-team tie-breakers with LSU due to best win/win% against highest team in conference play. FLORIDA would win all other 2-team tie-breakers with UT due to head-to-head. The #2/#3 difference right now potentially matches up with the difference of Georgia vs. a cluster of teams with the same record (Missouri, Arkansas, MSU, Kentucky) in the quarterfinals on Friday. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
we were not ready for their physicality at all. There has to be a game we lay an egg, it seems like tonight may be the night. We have to know we are not going to get the calls, so we better tighten up if we want this game
We look like we have reverted back to the first few games of the season. Absolutely no excuse for this. Way too many turnovers
we let them bother us, the refs and Vandy. #3 has been slapping and all over peoples back the entire first half with no foul calls on her. They had 0 calls against them in the 2nd quarter until the last moment. It is truly impossible to be that aggressive and no fouls called against. It is not the reason we are losing because again that last few minutes of the 2nd quarter it seemed we have decided that we were going to get tougher. Wyche has helped a lot inside with her athleticism, Dut and Toonders are just statues that cant move and if the ball is not in their immediate area then they have 0 chance to get it.
They came back and started hitting some baskets at the end of the 2nd qtr to make it a 4 pt game. Should have been 3 with a made FT. Might be taking them a while to adjust to that Vandy court.
game is not even close to being evenly called, everytime we drive they slap our kids ours and hands. I know it is Sr night for them or whatever, but this is some ridiculous officiating
Couldn't tell you the last time I saw a well officiated game. Something the sport needs to work on badly.
Down 2 after 3.... we can still win this one thankfully. It will be a bad loss if we don't get it going.
They are grabbing and mugging but not going to stop with no calls against them. Gators are just going to need to fight through it and win the 4th qtr.
