BREAKING: The Florida Gators are adding a veteran coach to serve as Associate Director of Player Performance
Looks like a good hire. Guy makes strength a priority. While he was at Atlanta under Quinn, team had lowest injury rate in the league.
I don’t quite understand this. Napier names a new SC coach then a few days later hires this guy, who seems very qualified to also be SC coach. Is this another hiring a coach to coach the coaches situation? If so it’s…..well, highly unusual.
Hoping he at least makes it farther than the last guy who left before he got his first power bill.. If he can get big Dez sub 400 he is a great hire.. I can’t wait to see Dez doing hot yoga and pilates.
So he was at John Carroll U, Iowa State, Texas, Florida while Muschamp/Dan Quinn were there, when Dan Quinn got the Head Coaching job with Falcons he hired Jesse again for Head job. When Quinn was fired by Falcons Jesse floated between jobs and had stint with XFL. Appears to be well regarded by former UF players like Anzalone with the Lions. Do we need to worry that Quinn will hire again for Commanders? Worked together for 7 years?
Bottom line is the coaches on staff. Titles mean nothing. Who is calling played matter. Three guys or tge entire offensive staff may have input on the entire offense. Calling plays is a talent and whoever has been calling them isn’t elite.
IMO play calling is dependent dependent on personnel on both offence and defence. Bump and run tight coverage with no pass rush? Spread the field on offence when your down linemen are getting beat in three seconds if they don't get help? I'll evaluate the play calling when our staff has upper classmen they recruited on the line of scrimmage.
