Yes, rest the defense and get the ball back to the offense in 4 downs or less.

The problem for us has been inefficiency in the red zone AND a terrible defense. Combine those two issues and long drives that end with zero to three points can be momentum swingers when the other teams scores on a quick play or drive. Save for a few games like south Carolina a couple years ago and a couple others, we always seemed to be in dog fights or in jeopardy of blowing leads. Even the Tennessee game last year illustrates that as the offense dried up and the defense gave up big passes in the 2nd half.

Are you basing that on anything? They ran it 47% of the time in 2023. Is it just because we don’t have Pearsall that you figure we’re going to go from 98th in rushing attempts to somewhere between 15th and 5th in the country?

Or was this more “yeah, yeah…we went out and did what we needed to in the portal, and exactly what people on this forum wanted…Napier will still screw it up.”

Just put seven on the board. I don’t care if it takes 60 mins.

Hope we run more balance at 50/50 run/pass. Napier has said he feels very good about the skill positions so hopefully he opens the offense up.

Hopefully he has that gear. But I don’t see him as having that mentality. At least what we had last year plus a much improved defense.

The Tennessee game was indicative of a conservative approach to ball control--playing to not give the lead away. I do agree, if the offense can eat clock, get 1st downs, and score ...

Yes that's well known and accepted yet even Napier himself stated he went conservative too early. I can't say when the right time is but I can say for certain it isn't coming out of halftime with the Swamp roaring and a defense that can lay down at any moment. It worked that time but those quick scores from Tennessee and the lack of offense from the Gators had the crowd taken out for much of the 2nd half

Hope to see a decent defense finally. I need out of the desert.

Even if it is we need to pull out some stops on offense. Napier has to know it. Has to feel the urgency and take some chances.

By the end of each game, they should be mumbling “Hodor… Hodor… Hodor…”

If I see one behind the line wr screen the entire year it will be one too many. That play always seems to go for minus 3 yards and sets us up for third and long....unless it was the play we actually called on third and long. It also has a high pick 6/fumble return for a td chance. It will be nice to see us use the entire field for sure.
