How horrible is that broadcast in catpuring the moment? They mute the crowd down so you can hear the announcers. Totally different experience with the video from the crowd.

This 1000 times. I was shocked at how muted the crowd noise was. Tonedeaf clueless production crew if they think that is how you capture the college football experience

Weldon's int in the 1991 game was loud too. UF was trying to get in the NC talk before the game. It was also the year UF officially won the SEC Title.

Yeah that's the game for me. I couldn't hear for days afterwards. I just knew we were going to win the game, until Ward & Dunn broke our hearts.
94 UGA in the Swamp & 95 UT were also really loud throughout!

I missed the game but was watching on the TV in the backyard of a house across University from the stadium next to the UF Foundation building. The eruption went off like a bomb. The TV feed was a few seconds behind so we knew the FG either missed or was blocked. That is one of the 3 loudest single moments I can recall from the Swamp...the others I was present for were Kerwin gimping in for 2, and Quezzie behind the Defense in 1997.

91 FSU. I have been to Gator games since 1976 to now.

And when it is 8:46 in Gainesville, what time is it in Tallahassee? 14 to 9, my brothers and sisters.

97 FSU. I've been lucky enough to be at all the loud ones since 1989. Cock block was loud too. 94 Georgia also great. Hell all of the 90s games were loud at the swamp.

From a recent standpoint, Alabama 2021 was insane. I couldn't talk for 3 days, no joke.

I was in basic training for the air force in 1997 for FSU game Arrgghhh-- wish I could have been there.

My loudest experience in person was 1995 vs Tennessee.

Good God, when Wright lit up Joey Kent---I could literally feel my brain vibrating. Good times!

My man! What a night Saturday Ocotber 12, 1991!!

Avenging the 1990 debacle up there. NO ONE gave us a chance saying our o-line couldn't handle Smith and Mims.

Larry Kennedy.....TD. The ENTIRE place shaking, keys rattling. "SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!!"

We had arrived and planned to stay.

Absolutely 100% sublime was that night.

Two levels of loud in one play.

and Miami ain’t NEVER heard either one in their lousy stadium.

Irritates me how much LSU gets the reputation for loudest stadium. I remember Malzahn saying how the crowd noise at LSU wasn't as much a factor as it was at the Swamp after Auburn played at both stadiums in back to back games.

Gus Malzahn says The Swamp was louder than Death Valley

I had an LSU fan who has been to all the SEC stadiums as a band member and a fan tell me that, despite us being considered the second loudest stadium (not sure who was considered the loudest - maybe aTm?), we were in fact the loudest in his opinion.

It's been said that the Swamp is loudest because of a combination of things. The combination of concrete, metal and how angular the stadium traps sound like no other. The field and lower bowl is below grade as well which is another factor to trap the sound. In fact Mike gottfried comments on all of that in the 94 Georgia game that was posted in the thread.

The Swamp is a lot closer to the field than most college stadiums since it never had a track around it. The Swamp is also one of the steeper stadiums as well without using a deck configuration. I think that concentrates a lot of noise in a much more compact space. I can tell you it seems a lot louder on row 12 than it does on row 46 where my seats are now. They completely rebuilt ATM's stadium to move it closer to the field, but I've never been there.

All that is surely true, now that the stadium is all bowled in. It was still pretty darn loud even before the end zones were filled out that, though. I would say the Gator fan culture itself has to be a major contributor to the decibel level in a competitive game, too.

Of course there is that but I'd suggest we aren't the only passionate fan base when comparing us to the likes of LSU, Auburn aTm etc.

I remember it like an up-and-down wailing siren sound in my ears on that play…
