yeah we need to sit players who bat .100 on the weekend but I know he is really fast right? Let's give guys with a track record a shot too. I'm saying there are a lot of really good players who need to stay tuned up or when we face stud pitchers like SC or Sandy we are gonna be in trouble

Cags went 1-11 with one walk vs Bama.......guess you were screaming to sit him? And he's not even fast
BT went 2-10 that series, man he dodged the pine in that last AB
Kurland went 1-16 vs Auburn....that's got to get you sent down to jv
Lang went 2-12 vs Ole Miss....livin on the edge
Rivera 1-9 vs Canes....is hitting .111 for the weekend ok

33 games is a pretty good "track record". Pretty much everyone on the roster has had ups and down. UF has had 15 position players that have gotten starts....we can nitpick at bats, but to argue they haven't done significant shuffling of the lineup is nonsense.

Would agree as you make lots of good points. I would say I really like Robertson’s on base percentage and he gets to balls other guys can’t get to. He’s young but man he covers some ground.

He has to be in the lineup, but I like him this year hitting 9th.

The great thing about this year's Gator team is that guys are taking turns carrying the load. There's enough talent throughout the lineup and on the bench that when a couple of guys go into a mini-slump, other guys pick up the slack. Ty Evans was a perfect example tonight. Benched after hitting only .105 in SEC games, yet came in as a late inning substitute and delivered the 2 out 3-run HR in the bottom of the 8th than won the game against FSU. This team could be special.

More of a personal reflection from me, I wanted to say thank you to everyone associated with Gator Baseball on the great year they are having. I'm not sure how many parents or players or people that work for the team might read these threads but I wanted to say how fun this year is watching the team come together over and over again to pull out another win. Last year at this time they were 21-13 but now they are 28-6, a plus 7 improvement, much of that in the SEC. Who knows where this season will lead but everything is going in the right direction. In 2017 we started 23-11 and that ended better than expected. Go Gators and thanks for a great season.

Do you consider H/A splits? Robertson is now batting .333 with an OPS of .874 at home (and a triple). He has many other favorable numbers in this regard. He didn't just struggle @ Tennessee; he struggled @ Jacksonville, @ SWAC, and @ Ole Miss. But he's been pretty awesome at home.

    Go GATORS!

Listened to Sully's comments and now he sounds like Cags will start on Sunday. Steve Russell said it today on his show, as a main point, if the Gators are gonna make it to Omaha, Cags has to factor into the pitching rotation. Then Sully said about the same thing tonight. A few times as Sully was speaking he sounded like he was going to announce that Cags will start but he got cut off by another question. Its hard to follow the back and forth. I remember after the Tennessee Game 3, in response to some calling for Caqs to be replaced in the rotation, I said Sully should give him one more chance when its not raining and back at home. But after reading his postgame comments, he sounded like they would have to make a change. So I wrote about all the reasons why I thought Neely should get the start over the other guys. Now we are back at Cags starting this Sunday. And yet no one still knows if Coppola will ever pitch.
    My case and point....

I sure wish I knew where you're getting these kinds of stats at home and others discussed here. I'd like to look into them and their reliability with the numbers.

I just make them up as I go. Nobody's going to check up on it. If it looks good, I go with it.

Yes, looks like Sully will go with Cags on Sunday. I'm assuming he changes his Saturday routine to just DH and likely more bullpen work instead of fielding and BP in the coming days. Those adjustments plus working in milder weather and in the friendly confines may do the trick-- hope so.

I had thought at the start of the season that Jac would DH on Saturday’s with him pitching on Sunday’s—maybe this will help lighten his load.

First, we have imho the makings of a championship team to go all the way. Obviously we need to peak at the right time but we have as good of a chance as any other top team.
Secondly, if we make it to the wold series and win the first two games, we may not even need our 3rd starter.
Lastly, I'm really impressed with Slater, Abner and Neely. If we can further develop a few more relievers I love our chances.
