I think Sully wants Wyatt in front of Jac and would prefer to keep Rivera behind Jac (not sure he wants to bat them 1-2-3). Robertson has had a much better approach at the plate lately - I wish he could get his bunt game going and keep the ball out of the air - so I am interested to see what he can do. It might not work out but looks like we are going to try it.

    I mostly agree with you.

I do like Wyatt in the leadoff spot though. He hit quite a few homers on the first pitch of the game last year. That’s a nice way to start the game, and it takes a special guy to just be ready to pounce on that first pitch fastball right out of the gate.

All that being said, I agree that shaking up the lineup from top to bottom seems crazy right now.

Tweaking is OK, I guess, but you're right - hard to justify messing too much with an offense that's been as productive as this one. This weekend we'll move up a level or two in the quality of pitching we'll face. So every little bit helps in putting guys in the best position to get us an extra run or two.

Not alot of "tweaking" if you take Kade out of lead off and slide him behind BT. This move will help us against better pitching like we are gonna see this Weekend. Dont think this offense gonna be so productive against Tenn. without a "tweak"

I'll be interested to see what the Thursday starting lineup looks like. I expect Sproat to pitch and I think he'll go back to last weekend's lineup. Could be wrong, but I just think Sully wants to show Kurland he still has his confidence. We'll see.

My guess is that Sully is going to go back to normal lineup.

side comment. Robertson is fast getting to first base. As for steals I’m surprised he’s been thrown out as much as he has. Maybe not getting good jumps.

Yep - maybe Josh and BT can give him some pointers lol. Not expecting him to be Enrique Brasfield but for as often as he has been getting on base, would have expected more success in the base stealing department. He hasn't run a ton and some of it may be the coaches hesitating to run when you had Kurland, Wyatt and Jac hitting with him on base and all swinging it really well.

Yeah SB isn't all about speed. Funny you mention Rivera....this year he is 10-11 in SB. In his previous 3 seasons COMBINED he stole 6 bases in 12 attempts. Super performance this year, shockingly blah the 3 years before. Don't get me started on Jud and SB's lol

As for any change to the starting pitcher rotation, the short answer to keep the cost of rent down is I don't see it for this weekend. Why you ask, I don't think Sully wants to put a pitcher who has never pitched before at Tennessee as the first night starter. I also agree with 74, since this is a short week, to bump up Waldrep means he would be starting on only 5 days rest from Saturday to Thursday and that's not Sully in the middle of the season. As for change, just 3 weeks ago Sproat pitched the game of his college career and then two games since then with poor results. I feel Sully would rather show another week of results before making a pitching rotation change. All that said, one more week will give a 7-8 days rest turn around before Georgia comes to town for the more normal Friday to Sunday weekend. That way Waldrep will pitch this Friday and then could pitch next Friday if Sully makes the change.

Granted, Sully's last press conference included words like "We're playing with fire" and "Can't win every game with your offense" when speaking about our pitching problems. So I believe Sully is ready for a change but our starters know they better improve this weekend or a change is gonna come. If any change were to happen on Thursday I'd be less surprised if Sully started Neely or Nesbitt and then start Sproat on Friday and Waldrep on Saturday, using Cags as a closer for this weekend only. Sure that's out there but that's how much I feel this is the wrong weekend for a rotation change. Let's hope Sproat comes out on fire and shuts down any frat boy uprising and we get the game 1 win.

Its a very nice publicity layout but D1 has Sproat ahead of Waldrep on their positional rankings 14 vs 18.

Good points. Being careful with big bats behind him and he’s still learning but overall having a really good freshman year.

Game Notes are out and willing to prognosticate the pitching rotation....

    PROB. STARTER
RHP Brandon Sproat (4-1, 5.45 ERA)
RHP Hurston Waldrep (5-1, 4.74 ERA)
LHP Jac Caglianone (3-0, 4.18 ERA)

Still possibility of a change though
